Tips & Strategies

What are tips for drakeling? Tips and strategies for drakeling in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
From what I can tell there are 4 different types of these guys found at different areas of the map. To tame them you take a torch and stand under it and it will land on your shoulder. Once it is on your shoulder you'll be given task to complete such as kill experience, craft experience, harvest experience. You will be given a timer to complete each task and if you don't the tame effectiveness will decrease and the drake ling will jump off your shoulder. Make sure to have mutton(you can use any meat) or exceptional kibbles in your last hot bar slot as you will need to feed your drake ling after you complete each task. Rinse, wash, repeat and you have a drakeling.
Drakelings are biome specific, and will receive a power boost aslong as they're in their home home, I just got a winter variant from killer snow on rag
Lure them onto your shoulder with a torch.
Will latch on and ask for XP, either kill, craft, or harvest.
Feed taming food once done.
Repeat until tamed.
If you are teaming a drakeling take a herbivore xuz they will attack carnivores
If you are having troubles getting this thing to land on your shoulder try taking off all your armor first then pull out your torch and just stand close to it. After it lands on your shoulder put your armor back on and follow the prompt given on screen to start taming your new little buddy
I just tamed one on raw mutton; 10 feeds. It came out level 148 so it was not a high level… raw mutton is not the way.
To tame one of these beautiful little dragons you need a torch in hand and kibble in the last slot. I used extrodinary kibble but I think a lesser version works. Once it lands on your shoulder a bar with an xp gather task will show up. So far only 3 have pop up for me gathering xp, crafting xp, and kill xp. After you fill the bar use a kibble. Repeat untill tamed.
Use torch to attract. Then you can tame.
Grab a torch and don't have a shoulder pet on. It will ask you to harvest stuff kill stuff and it's a passive tame
Walk up to the Drake and hold out a torch to allow it to land on you.
Once it lands, it will request for you to gain a certain type of experience.
Once you hit the requested amount you can feed it either Exceptional Kibble or Mutton.
Repeat until tamed!
You have to have a torch out to tame this, it will jump on your shoulder and then it will give you a task to do. Once you complete the task you have to feed it. I've been using raw mutton.
Hunting pray and adventure flying
If you are ever early game and see on of these run, one time I was early game on my scorched earth server and it took out about five of my high level raptors without breaking a sweat and later taking me out too.
You need to own the dlc to tame
The perfect temp is 19 degrees Celsius for hatching the eggs
Spring Drakeling buffs
Aspect Of Spring: +1% / +15 health regen, -10% stamina consumption
Native Biome Boost: +10% XP and +10% loot quality
Draconic Knowledge(if on your shoulder): "Drakelings store a percentage of experience while mounted. Can be used to boost another creatures experience, with higher value boosts also granting a 'Dragon Hoard Key'."
(I just copied the buff descriptions from the "Show buffs" menu)
These creatures are must have, they store exp for you 30,000 max, and you get a dragon key which give you high level loot, I’ve gotten kibble, high level tek armor etc. I found that it’s easy to get most your exp from alphas ofc but killing dragons it will help you gain a lot !
How to tame Drakelings
You will have 4 different variants
Spring
Summer
Autumn
Winter
Each variant will have its own buffs that are based on the biome you are in and can transfer xp to other Dino’s as well as give you a great amount of insulation and xp boost.
Now to tame them you’ll need a torch hold it out and the Drakeling will hover over to your shoulder. You will have 1 min and 25 seconds to complete an XP Task. Crafting, Killing, or harvest then you may feed it kibble to tame it.
