Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a diplocaulus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a diplocaulus.
If you ever need to find one, look for the 3 kapros, 2 sarcos, and 4 titanaboa smushed in a circle
On mobile, these CAN be picked up by ptera
You can easily find these guys in the swamps I mainly find them in the swamps near green obelisk they usually get attacked by barys kapros sarcos and boas so sometimes they are at low health.
U can build a wooden box just walls JUST WALLS

|_____|. Like that but seal it up. Use and argy or pteranodon to go pic it up
And place it in the trap
If it’s at low health DO NOT TRY TO TAME IT there’s chances it can die straight away wait for it to heal up *which is a pain but worth it*
Feed their preferred kibble **simple kibble** mobile: Archaeopteryx kibble
I recommend prime fish meat that u can easily get by killing saber tooth salmon and collecting it with a metal hatchet
I also recommend prime meat u can get by killing strong Dinos like a paratherium.
U don’t have to use a soothing balm it tames ok /fast-ish
I recommend u have at least 60 Narcotics some bio toxin **just in case**
**bio toxin can be collected by killing jelly fish** and there tamed!
This thing can also be founded in lost island i just tamed one
First of all, this dino is quite useful when it comes to swimming underwater, since it spends it’s own oxygen except for yours and gives you some extra when dismounted. I recommend getting it out of the water first (if it is in water tho) since you know.. Sarcos etc. I lured a dilo to attack it then killed it to knock it out safely. You can also use bolas on these things which is pretty good for a 4 legged dino. And the most important part is that you need to add it weight since its around 150 at lvl approx 10 and you need to like ride it. Also the best thing of it is that it doesn’t require a saddle, I mean you can just ride it after tamed without using anything. Gotta remind their colors are modtly amazing and DON’T LET THE DODODEX PHOTO FOOL YOU THEY ARE SMALLER THAN MOSCHOPS. Hope it helped!
Can be picked up with a pteranodon.
Super easy to tame, even easier if you have an argy, all I did was pick it up and drop it somewhere near my base where it was safe, then I gave it like 2 tranq darts. Not very fast so you don’t even have to trap it if you’re close to base or somewhere safe lol. Mine was a low level so be careful not to load too many tranq arrows into it. Put meat or kibble into inventory, name it queef queen💪
Put it in water with you bring up its command wheel to ride. While your riding it it will share oxygen.
Ark mobile player here. Pteranodons can pick these guys up and they dont hurt your flyer when wild. Swoop in and save it before it gets hurt too badly. Drop it in a taming pen to heal then knock out and tame
Diplocaulus are constantly picked on by swamp carnivores, even the sluggish Dilos, add on the fact that they are so painfully slow and it results in it constantly kicking the bucket.
For taming either take some strong tames to kill all swamp carnivores or, and this is worth noting, use a pteranodon/Tapejara to hook it out the swamp for easy pen taming
Diplo can give oxygen in underwater
Without scuba suit
AMAZING....
I just bred mine and put the egg in the fridge. So who said you cant move the egg is full of bologna. Now as for the hatching, I have no idea but it will be a learning curve.
Can be picked up with arghh and put into wooden structure to knockout with tranq arrows, amazing find
You can also pick it up with a petrodon
So apparently this Dino in baby stages is like a tadpole and has to remain in water. I podded two juveniles and threw them out on land and they both just disappeared.
Keep them in water the full duration or it will disappear
.
Use spyglass to find diplocaulus
The oxygen info is white and stands out against normal yellow green and red and is larger font...
There are very week Dino so kill everything that breaths on it, around it
Tamed one today, it was by the Green odilisk. Brought it home with an argentavis, shot it a few times with narco arrows (bow) and fed it meat and narcotics as needed!
They look so dumb and cute, would recommend getting one

Very difficult to tame in PVE since you can’t pick it up and it’s every gator’s favorite snack. 9/10 Times you will find them getting eaten. I recommend taking a taming raft to the edges of the swamp near the ocean and using rare flowers to aggro it into your boat. Have a buddy scout with a flyer to find one. They have low health so be careful not to kill it. You might want to force feed to get the health back up after KO’d.
Guys this guy is the best he is a good pet to be with
Since they are often being killed by the other local fauna in their habitat, but can be picked up by a pteranodon, my strategy is to patrol until you find one, pick it up and carry it to a safe taming area. Just keep Kaprosuchus in mind while following tthis idea since they can grab you off of your bird...
I see many people complaining this is a har tame…..
Just LITERALLY pick it up with an Argentevis
