Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a diplocaulus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a diplocaulus.
Scare it out of the swamp scare it out of the water and you're good to tame it it's easier that way the fast swimmers sometimes and the swamp is dangerous
This animal is pretty nice to have. I don’t know it’s purpose yet. But it’s a pain in the butt to tame cause you have to worry about Baryonyx, and titanoboa. 😢
HELP NO IMPRINT OPTIONS SOLVED
If you love these creatures like me and want to breed them to get better stats you’ll probably want to read this. So this isn’t about taming them I’m sure you already know what a pain it is to keep one alive after knock out.
Rule 1. When you breed them they must stay in water NO MATTER WHAT OR BOOM!
Also when imprinting there is no option to imprint due to a bug in the game but the way around it is by walking it over and over until it imprints.
When I say walk I mean swim it because remember rule 1. The first time walk for about a minute if no imprint happens then cryo it and walk it again and repeat until it imprints. Your basically just rolling the dice until the walk option comes but you’ll never see what it actually wants so walking is the cheapest option.
Rule 2. Wear scuba, your going to be walking it a couple times most likely. Your going to run out of stamina and the last thing u want is to go on land to get stamina and the baby diplo follows u remember rule 1.
This works for me on a PS5
Can be picked up with a pteranodon.
Im going to tame a diplocaulus first i saw it in the beach but i need bola club slingshot bow and tranq arrows i need to tame with raw meat with soothing balm and i name him Willie
Diplo can give oxygen in underwater
Without scuba suit
AMAZING....
Diplocaulus are constantly picked on by swamp carnivores, even the sluggish Dilos, add on the fact that they are so painfully slow and it results in it constantly kicking the bucket.
For taming either take some strong tames to kill all swamp carnivores or, and this is worth noting, use a pteranodon/Tapejara to hook it out the swamp for easy pen taming
Tamed one today, it was by the Green odilisk. Brought it home with an argentavis, shot it a few times with narco arrows (bow) and fed it meat and narcotics as needed!
They look so dumb and cute, would recommend getting one

So apparently this Dino in baby stages is like a tadpole and has to remain in water. I podded two juveniles and threw them out on land and they both just disappeared.
Keep them in water the full duration or it will disappear
.
Put it in water with you bring up its command wheel to ride. While your riding it it will share oxygen.
Bro to tame it just grab it with your argentavis bring it to base and hit it with two tranq darts it's so easy
All you have to do is have a small room and carry it with your ptrenadon and shoot it with like 5 tranq arrows (if high level like mine)

Interesting how the are carnivores yet run away from any and all conflict
They are really rare to find but once you do tame one get it out of the swamp immediately or else you will have to start the process all over again R.I.P my pet diplocaulus
Bring a pteranodon or other flyer capable of grabbing. Diplocaulus spawn in swamps, and if you don’t pick it up to tame elsewhere, it will almost certainly be eaten by a crocodile. Even if it isn’t brutally eaten alive, you also happen to be on the menu for kapros, and may be killed or pulled away from the defense of your attempted tame.
You think it’s all good just feeding it raw meat, so when I KO it I fed it raw meat then 36:28 later it tamed, waste of time but good for underwater experience.
Guys this guy is the best he is a good pet to be with
Use spyglass to find diplocaulus
The oxygen info is white and stands out against normal yellow green and red and is larger font...
There are very week Dino so kill everything that breaths on it, around it
To tame diplocaulus you have to make sure you have a lot of fish meat or normal meat. Then if you are taming it in the wild you should build a small little area with walls or spike walls around the perimeter in case anything tries to attack it because diplocaulus are usually a top ten prey item for most things in the swamp. Finally find a diplocaulus and then rather take some time to push it into the small area protected by walls or just get a pteranodon ride the pteranodon and pick up the diplocaulus and then drop it into the small area then tranq it, feed it, and tame it. Very difficult to tame in PVE since you can’t pick it up and it’s every gator’s favorite snack. 9/10 Times you will find them getting eaten. I recommend taking a taming raft to the edges of the swamp near the ocean and using rare flowers to aggro it into your boat. Have a buddy scout with a flyer to find one. They have low health so be careful not to kill it. You might want to force feed to get the health back up after KO’d.
