Are not affected by oxygen while on your shoulder, so it helps you to find your body if you die because it will be flying right above the water where you died. Also if attacks while on your shoulder, so it can collect bodies for your herbivores, help keep attackers off of you, and can be thrown at Dinos do kill them. There is no reason not to carry one, they are very helpful.

To tame you need 1 bola and narcotics and meat use bola then fist it start using the meat and if unconscious use narcotics then he’s tamed

The tiny obscure hitbox is a pain to shoot at .

Use a bola and then line up a quick headshot or two for a super easy take !

Just watch out as they often don't travel around alone .

They can fly through windows, so if you want a cool base defense set up 1x1 boxes of windows and fill them with these guys

Tame a high level one, set on neutral, and dump all points on damage to have your own personal microraptor/thyla/kapro/purlovia defense system

These guys do a lot of damage, and also doubles as a last ditch meat shield, if your trying to escape a carnivore, if you have a lot of them then you can muffle the screams of your enemys as they get shredded on top of they’re mount… get a little more then you are a dimorphodon army leader who sits on a throne with a dimorphodon cloud carrieing you to victory… and so on.

Don’t ever think about touching it in redwoods, you will get swarmed to death because of the sheer amount of spawns

Use a sword. I was on brutal trying to tame a level 205 and when I hit it a whole swarm of mabye 7 came after me my apprentice sword killed them all (note I had full ascendant leather armor)

My new way to hunt: i have one of these and set it on attack target, put it on my shoulder and get a weapon. then i find sometging to kill, get if to attack something but don't take it off. then when the time is right i yeet it at the target and help it kill the target. works on smaller things, but still in testing at the moment.

Never steal their egg or else.. face the consequences

If you wanna get your hands on these just know these few things

1. They spawn in deserts and swamps mostly

2. If you have lots of bolas don’t worry about them just bola them all and tranq

3. Just 1 can kill a level 150 Rex

4. Torpor drain is high food drain not so much

5. 5 or more is a force to be reckoned with to every creature and if you can get lots nothing stands a chance

Be carefull when taming the abberant variant, spawning around the middle of the map, red zone. They are kinda hard to spot and well, red zone.

They Also spawn on Val. in the unknown.

And If you want to bring one to radiation( ASE valguero unknown / Drake nests on fjordur If transferred) but couldn't care less abt the abb. variant, the normal one, according to wiki.gg is also Rad. Immune.

After sometime of using dilos and dimorphodon as bodyguard, I realized that the dimo are much much better, a bit harder to tame then dilos but they can come a long way. They are much more maneuverable than dilo so they won’t fall behind, except in cave, recommend at most 3. When they attack, they encircle the enemy, the dilos standstill, so the dimo can easily kill any carnivore with 0 casualties. The Theri was my dilo’s nightmare, now with the dimo the Theri is just trash. They can even kill a Rex super quick with enough numbers.

So, if you got all the tools needed to tame these, replace your dilos bodyguard with these as soon as possible.

To do a mass tame do this.

Step one:

Build a 2x2 foundation,

Step two: place a wood Dino gate ( make sure it opens inward) on one side and use doors on the others.

Step three:open the Dino gate and go find dimorphodons, shoot one and get their aggro.

Final step: run into the trap and let all the dimorphs get in and close the gate. Now you have a bunch of dimorphodons you can knock out.
