Tips & Strategies

What are tips for deinotherium? Tips and strategies for deinotherium in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Really easy, like some else has mentioned each animation has a percentage, I do not want to take away from his message so see his to learn these percentages. Do not approach if ears are pinned or trunk is rolled to a side. If they aren’t in a favorable place (jungle) you can hit them as their taking effectiveness will not go down, just simply make sure you are out of Agro once they are in the area you prefer.
On a 150 I used 1 Beer and it did 8% for everyone tryna match it out
Just go to YouTube. Short 1:30 vid. They have animations you have to look for and a certain time slot required to give them the beer.
Unlike the theri, these are always aggressive no matter what you're riding.
**This tip is only for people having trouble on an unofficial server/cluster that has a resource stacking mod and have not been able to get taming progression:
- craft your own beer
- split your stack to singles and put one in your hot bar at a time.
If you're following the taming process from content creators, you should now be able to tame one.
*Beer from drops did not work, so I dumped all of them and just crafted my own.
Successfully tamed one with 3 consecutive beers.
Angry elephants
All u rlly need to know
Only come near with a Rhynio, Deinosuchus, or any strong dino that packs a mean punch.
Use very high armor. (your strongest armor it can be primitive if you don’t have anything higher)
First wipe out the low levels you don’t want and single out the one you want. (I would recommend a strong Rex, Rhynio, or Deinosuchus for this)
Once you have singled the one you want you can now start taming after the first time it shakes its trunk it will either fold its ears (angry) or flap (happy) and also it’ll shake its trunk if it does this 2 times and more then just go for it idk the amount of trust with each animation tho so search that up
Anyway this thing will pack a big punch I personally think it’s worthy of crushing the overseer
Btw if using for bosses then ride a male deinotherium with a yuty following and auto couraging it will help alot
Killed a lvl 75 with a lvl 42 ceratosaurus (9 in melee) very easily.
can be killed by therizno.
Step 1) find big boi
Step 2) solo big boy from all dinos (Thus makes taming super easy!)
Step 3) tame with no other tamed or wild dinos around AT ALL
Step 4) get elephant boi to face you, as there are no other dinos as long as you stay about 10 meters out he won't aggro just make his faces.
Step 5) when big boy gives you the multi shakes and then wiggles you over with his ears WALK under him. If he starts shaking is head a lot better prepared for hit.
Step 6) if you circled to the sides he would miss the stun but possibly still hit you, as no other dinos are around usually just running back 25 meters will calm them.
Tip: as no other dinos are around after he takes the beer just back up the 10 meters and he'll walk a little bit and let you follow him at that space for FASTEST tame speed. PyroManes and buildings are good tools for your first time safety. Haven't tried ghillie

Ok so basically you HAVE to be level 95 to tame. Put beer in the last slot of your hot bar, then it will sniff around (meaning it notices the beer) and find you. Look carefully at its trunk as it will roll its trunk up. It’s ears will also stick out. Go to it and feed it beer. Repeat the step. Also don’t go to the Deinotherium when it’s trunk is out and it’s ears are out too. Kill the other Deinotheriums in the pack (sorry for not mentioning that earlier) I believe it also looks different when male or female. Hope this helps.
1) separate from herd and other bigs herbivores. (when he gets the green aura they were also attacking)
2) set up a building at least 5x5 or have a shoulder PyroMane
3) approach him from the back and keep 15m
4) watch him shake like happy boi until his ears do uppies
5) when they do uppies run at his leg and circle it in the outer side to avoid stun stomps
6) swap to rider mode or run into building via dino gate
7) huddle in middle of building until he isn't angry boy and has started wondering off or leave render
150 is at 40% right now and it cost 5 Beer Happy Hunting ~Macha Misae
Yoi don't have to actually add up the animations. As long as they do one of each of them, in any order, you're good to tame. Head shake, trunk shift, and ear flap. This thing could do 3 head shakes in a row and then do an ear flap and trunk shift, you're good to tame. It HAS to do all three animations or you get wrecked.
If the deinotherium is taking beer but you are getting no taming progress, put only 1 beer in your hot bar. - Lyx
