Aberrant deinonychus
Chapter eleven
After around thirty minutes of running, we stopped at a clearing to catch our breath, and because it was getting dark.
“Ok, get off my back now,” I said to Berry and Carter. They hopped off, and Carter started to build a fire.
“What now,” Leo said with a slightly sad expression.
“I guess we try to leave? I mean, I only looked back once, but when I did those Nameless things were chasing us,” I said.
“Do you think we’re being hunted,” asked Berry fearfully.
“I don’t know,” Leo said honestly. Fifteen minutes later, it was dark and Carter had gotten a fire started, which we were all huddled around.
“I’ll take first watch, in case we are being followed,” I said.
“I’ll take second. We’ll rotate at midnight,” Leo said.
I nodded.
Five hours later
I was starting to regret offering myself to take first watch.
‘Only two more hours’ I thought to myself as my eyes grew heavier.
One hour an fifty-five minutes later
I shuffled over to Leo and started shaking him awake. He apparently wasn’t in to deep of a sleep, because he woke up almost immediately.
“You’re turn for watch,” I whispered.
I didn’t see what his reaction was, because I fell asleep almost instantly.
I woke up to Leo shaking me awake. When he saw my wake up, he said, “Ripper, you’ll never believe this! Carter just found something amazing!”
“What is it,” I said groggily.
“A way out.”
