They have pretty long range. So if you see them just dont dive into water, first kill them from range weapon. And if you are already inside water then see if they are moving to check they spotted you or not. If they are not moving then simply change your way and dont try to fight, if they are moving then you better run in opposite direction for your life.

While your tame still might die anyway if you have a high hp dino that gets zapped by these whistle followall and swim away. If you can i managed to rescue my 140 rex that way.
