Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a castoroides? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a castoroides.
Took me 3 bolas, and at least 30 stone from a slingshot to go down
An argy CAN PICK THESE up, I have tested it today
Dododex says you can’t pick up these furry potatoes with an argie, but that’s not true. Argie can carry them, and I’d actually recommend it, because smacking one with a narcotic while they’re in their base area will cause the entire damn dam to swarm you. Do keep in mind, however, that they can tear through the wood walls of your lazy level 11 training pen faster than you can say oops.
You can kill it by just throwing a bola at it then kill and take down it den
Found a whole heap of dams at the footpaw and the other lake near it. These guys are quite deadly in a group so always scout around before messing with their house. Me and my buddy just grabbed what we needed and got out, I supplied the pick up from a safe distance on my pteranadon while he lost most of his armour getting his butt kicked by the beavers (seriously recommend being the pick up guy)
Wood only weighs 20% when in its inventory and stone is only 50%, not sure about other material, more testing to come!
Before taming make sure you have TONS of narcotics and someone who will be able to stay on for a while because thier torpor goes down like crazy.
Tarpor drops faaaast. Wood is borderline unlimited.
Get on a rock and shoot it in the head don't be afraid to knock out underwater they want drown good luck
If you plan to tame it make sure you bring plenty of narcotics or narcoberries because it wakes up fast
1. Search area near dam and make sure beavers aren’t too close
2. Equip bolas, open dam, and quickly grab everything that isn’t wood then get out of the menu.
3. Swing bola until you see the beaver(s) charging at you, let it get close enough that you can’t miss and then bola it.
4. Tranq with headshots, preferably with darts. Even better if you have an Argent, pick it up and fly it to your base to tame - they will likely lose aggro mid flight so when you land at base it’ll just start wandering around again. Unless you have the kibble use Mejoberries - crops don’t actually work much better and are far more accessible.
When trying to Tame this creature make sure to bring atleast 1500-1800 narcotics. Although the narcotic’s are way off bring atleast that and kibble. Or veggies. And watch his topor because the creatures topor drops 5x the rates of a normal Dino.
When taming these thing be prepared to sit with it for a while and don't let it out of your sight because their torpor drops insanely fast
Ark hates tamed castoroides and will go out of its way to kill them or glitch them
Wild casteroids will build beaver dams... these can be accessed as an inventory and generally have wood, cementing paste, and some sort of rare item, either flowers or mushrooms. Just only access these when no casteroids are nearby, as they will agro when you open it
I started hunting one for the pursuit and It took me around 10 minutes of waiting patiently for it to get close enough to the water surface for me to pick it up with my Argy.
It's torpor drops very fast and if you try and take ANYTHING from their dam it can very much cost you armor or even your life. I am trying to take one at a low level and it is a nightmare because I can't get enough narcos.
I tamed a level twenty in 3 min with azulberries with no narcotics
Where ever it says "how many narcotics needed" on this app is a lie. You almost always need way more than is recommended on here. So do not plan your tames around how many narcotics this app recommends for it.
Get on a high rock u dumbos just kidding but srsly get on a high rock tranq it don’t get off even if it’s runs away and wait for the tranq to effect and boom a giant beaver but I’d recommend mojo berries
