Tips & Strategies

What are tips for castoroides? Tips and strategies for castoroides in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
I think they are the cutest creature in Ark.They do the cutest growl
No need to worry that these beavers will drown during taming. Had more then one run out into the water and fall asleep with no bad consequence to the taming.
Can also be carried by Argentavis
Bring many narcotics, i mean A LOT. Don't leave it alone either because the torpor drops faster than a stone in water
I built a base at lake, around the water there are loads of these dino beavers. I went to get the stuff from the dams, while I was doing that heard the beavers attacking me and my argy. We both died. Don’t steal from them they will attack!!!!
When you knock it out just keep in mind that it wakes up fast, but also make sure you kill all the others in the area because they can end up swarming you.
My level 10 was at 92% with full unconscious and woke up. Make sure to guard your beaver and keep watching him
Just bola it and and knock it out and feed it carrots .berries take a long time and make sure you have loads and loads of narkotics or narcoberries the torpor goes very fast
Pick it up with an argentavis hop off in mid air and shoot the heck out of it, if your argie lands, hop back on and try again
These beavers have become one of my most used "Dino". Their ability to hold wood at 25% weight and stone at 50% weight comes in handy when building. I recommend lvling weight and breeding high lvl beavers. Breeding is very easy. Once they are born and imprinted let them wander around bushes in a protected area. They will passively collect berries to their full weight capacity (full as in once they're grown). This means they are self sufficient even in the baby stage.
The bad thing about these guys is that once tamed they cannot build any more dams
Be careful when you get near it, it shreds your armor pretty fast. So don't let it get more than a couple hits on you.
Didn’t see this mentioned so I’ll share so someone else doesn’t panic like I did lol
Always bring some kind of torpor adding substance with you when taming if you don’t have/can’t make the kibble. If you’re taming with crops or berries, you’ll have to add narcotics or narcoberries etc to keep them out because their torpor drains faster than the time they’ll be tamed in. :) I’ve gotten a couple during the summer event now both under level 100 for the neat colors and used over 200 narcotic between the two? 🥴 Don’t remember the first, but used 110 on the level 70 I just tamed while writing this & had 97.5% taming effectiveness. ^_^b
Once you touch their dam or take the stuff, they will chase you till the end of the earth, even if you go away, if you come back they will remember you
Ignore all comments about wild castoroides being able to build giant beaver dams. They're making it up.
Giant beaver dams spawn alongside 2 Castoroides, so if you spawn in south zone 2 and see a giant beaver dam, kill all the castoroides plus some coelacanths, and you'll get another beaver dam plus 2 beavers, which again, you should kill plus some coelacanths to free up space for more giant beaver dams to spawn.
Wild giant queen bees can't build bee hives, so don't expect wild castoroides to be able to build giant beaver dams.
I found out how to get resources from this creature 100% safe, you'll need an arge with a saddle, grab the castoroides and take it next to your base if you live near the sea like I do , then just let him work and everytime you want to collect resources from his home just use normal tranq arrow he sleep after the 3-5 arrows when he wakes up he won't agro you (it's on easy mode gameplay, low lvl)
If you wanna tame one. Be sure to have citronal and narcotics (LOTS). Probably 120 or more for a level 100 and above. Though if you wanna tame in 40 mins and use 70 narcotics, be happy if you've got 10x soothing balm.😄
Dododex needs to update this. The castoroide can be Carried by an Argentavis. I just carried one using an Argentavis to my base to tame.
