Almost every caves, strong creatures can't follow with you. Even some caves need to go underwater to get useful resorces or trophy and dossier and again, most creatures that you are familiar usually are not good at diving and swiming. If they are good at diving and swiming, they are too weak to travel caves and underwater's creatures.

But after baryonyx released, no worries. It will keep your safe and help combat from almost every normal cave's creatures(high lvl megalosaurus will tough at night times, but it is weak at day times and still your bary can tanking few sec if you spend points on health for most.), even it can dive into the water endlessly if you have preparation about oxygen, coldness or scuba and still it will help help your combat from underwater's creatures.

When not found in the swamp, easily tameable. Just lure it closer to your base, bola it, and tranq it.

Bola it this drill on the head with tranq arrows doest matter if it's with a bow or a crossbow but if it's over lever 50 then I recommend using a crossbow and I recommend using fish meat to tame.

For beginners you cN just bola them and whack em with a bat until their knocked out, I don't think it works on higher levels tho but it worked for me so it probably will work for you

Better than rex and depending on the lvl they can out damage spinos and tail spin attack is very useful in sticky situations

It was so easy for me to tame one of these things!

Here is how:

You will need:wooden doorframes(4), wooden foundation, wooden ramp, fish, narcotics (if needed), and fish meat, bow/crossbow/longneck/slingshot, tranq ammo/rocks.

Make a trap by placing wooden doorframe on all side on a wooden foundation. Then add a wood ramp in the direction pointing to it. Fire at will, when you hit it, wait for it to be close and run through the trap. Now that it is trapped, knock it out with what you brought with you. Next, shove fish meat down its throat and narcos if needed. Bipity bopping boom! Enjoy your baryonyx but do not let it destroy other dangerous creatures if low leveled. WAIT UNTIL IT IS A HIGH LEVEL 20 AND ABOVE. Your friend, Sully 🦀

They have a tail spin stun locking attack that only works when the Baryonyx is swimming

They are on every map except for Scorched Earth

They can only be picked up by a wyvern or quetzal

They are way better in the water than on land

Theres no reason not to tame a Bary, they are extremely usefull, from caving, to water taming and exploring, and just general traveling. They are very fast on land, being able to outrun raptors, carnos, even allos. When it comes to underwater capability, its got decent speed, being able to outrun all surface level water dinos, and being able to stun creatures as big as and smaller than a megalodon.

The only downside to the Baryonyx is its taming food, wich can be pretty annoying to find, unless youve got access to plenty of its kibble, wich comes from a pretty underused dino.

I encountered one earlier I tried to tame it but it killed me so I tried to kill it I was successful but it killed my dilo then I checked what food to use for tame

This isn’t really a tip but one was camping in the water when I was level 5 and it 1 shot me next time I come level 8 still one shot me next time I come theres 2 so I don’t go over to them cuz I’ve learned that they 1 shot me next time I come lvl 11 or something there’s none but there’s one next to my base in the water I might tame it I’m lvl 16 or 17 now

Just tamed one of these guys, he is really good and I recommend taming one, mid game tame, I don’t have saddle for him yet but he protected me from diloposaurus

These are what I use to gather fish meat, which is useful since they, amongst other things such as otters, only eat fish meat. It’s a must have when breeding them and other fish eating dinos. Simply swim off shore, stun any megs/mantas, eat them as they sit there helplessly, rinse and repeat.

Best tame for spelunking, pretty fast on land and in water, if it’s high enough in levels has decent stats as well, best overall!
