Tips & Strategies

What are tips for astrocetus? Tips and strategies for astrocetus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
If you do not yet have the Tek Skiff, use the Tek Mek cannon and a blood stalker to knock it down. Depending upon your max level, the mek may not take it down in one shot. My wild max is 300 so I'll use a rocket at first to deal the difference in torpor and finish it with the mek cannon. Keep in mind that rockets, cannon, and Tek Mek deal splash damage so it will not come out to a perfect tame. Use a long neck to shoot and lure the whale. Once it's facing you from a reasonable distance, shoot the rockets to deal the difference in torpor and the mek can finish it. The base mek cannon deals 25k torpor. If you have a blue print, it will deal more in one hit. I personally recommend the mek over the skiff as it's less likely to run away with mek vs the cannon and cannon ball method.
KO with Mek Rockets...got a 130 and 145 down on official..both kibble tamed but only got 17% effectiveness...maybe need skiff or cannon for higher?
Why did it die in like two seconds after I knocked it out
2 taming methods for these whale bois. If you want a high level space whale, use a TEK skiff mounted with a canon and a buddy for better effectiveness. The other method is to get your mek off extinction, use the cannon module, and blast it's face. Under NO circumstance be that one person who can't actually play the game, and go up to it's face and use force tame like a sucker. -TheForceTameSpiter
Moves slowly so M.S.C.M is a good idea
Rocket launchers sick for taming these
You can ko this with rocket launcher but after 3 shots he tp away
I did not know how to tame the fcking whale wow use force tame
To the guy who said it takes 93 years to tame this, a life well spent
50% effectiveness using catapult
I’ve heard a lot of questions ab the play saddle so imma explain the best way to use it: make the two foundations on it. Then make a ceiling connected to one, in any direction. You can now place another foundation below the ceiling, then destroy the ceiling and you have a foundation attached to one of the other base foundations. Repeat as necessary
Astrocetus taming is currently a little buggy on xbox official version. They appear to lose 5-10% effectiveness for each piece of kibble they consume. I'm sure this next part is intended, but for every non-torpor inflicting cannon shot the whale loses a chunk of taming effectiveness. My reference is while taming a 100 astrocetus, it came down with 75% effectiveness, and as it ate kibble it eventually dropped to less than 20% effectivenes.
Cool battle scenario (offense)
Setting: you are attacking a nearby enemy base on the white cliffs in crystal isles.
Creature 1: managarmr (ridden by humans, high on stam, at least 3)
Creature 2: blood stalker (carrying human, at least 2)
Creature 3: space whale (full equipped with tek saddle and 4 humans)
Scenario: the managarmrs go in first, and freeze any fliers beforetehy can take off. They then get to work on bigger creatures, while the blood stalkers come up and get rid of the smaller ones. The space whale(s) then jump in, taking out creatures with the tek turrets. When they are over the base, they drop the full arsenal of bombs, wiping out the base. They then use the hyper jump thing and teleport everyone away from the cliffs.
Up if u liked, feel free to post your own 😁😁😁
3 tips in one, dodex kibble amount and timer is wrong, takes 7 kibble for a 140, cannon seems to drop effectiveness just the same as mek cannon, roughly 15-20 minutes to tame
Use a Mek to knock out 1 hit KO on anything below 200
