Tips & Strategies

What are tips for archaeopteryx? Tips and strategies for archaeopteryx in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Protip: like the vulture, in Scorched if you find one walking around throw a tent over it and go inside to KO with whatever you want. Makes for a safe and easy tame same for any of the small tames.
If you have a flyer and the archaeopteryx is flying high just hit it once it should fall down then just run after it it is easy after that
To those whose archaeopteryx bug and disappear as soon as they hit the ground, the only solution I have is getting on a flyer that lets you equip things while riding them. I used my griffin and bola'd one while airborne. They will fall to the ground after. Lost 9 bolas trying to hit on while it was on the ground. Best of luck!
Archaeoraptor first turned up in a hotel room in Tucson, Arizona. Stephen Czerkas, a dinosaur enthusiast who ran a small private museum, was wandering around a fossil fair when he heard that a Chinese dealer had something extraordinary.
When the dealer unwrapped a foot-long slab of rock, Czerkas experienced a paleontological epiphany. Embedded in the stone were the fossilised bones of an extraordinary prehistoric animal, with the complex limbs of a prototype bird and the distinctive tail of an earth-bound dromaeosaur, edged with the shadow of what seemed to be feathers. It looked like a dinosaur that could fly.
"It was stunning," Czerkas recalls. "I could see right away that it didn't belong on sale. It belonged in a museum."
He hastily contacted a patron who put up the $80,000 the dealer was asking for, and took his prize home in a state of high excitement, convinced he had discovered evidence of a pivotal moment in evolution.
That was last February. In the year since then, the dramatic rise and fall of Czerkas's new bird-dinosaur has been one of the strangest episodes in modern paleontology, and a scandal from which the science is still recovering.

After months of scrutiny involving x-rays and scans, Czerkas's bird dinosaur was proclaimed a new species, Archaeoraptor liaoningensis , by none other than the prestigious National Geographic journal. The magazine heralded the find as a crucial "missing link", representing conclusive proof that birds were the last living descendants of the dinosaurs.
But weeks later, archaeoraptor was unveiled as a hoax, wedged together with bits and pieces from at least two animals by canny Chinese farmers with a feel for what palaeontologists were looking for. It now appears to have been the dinosaur version of Piltdown Man, the notorious fossil hoax put together in Sussex in 1911 to provide the missing link between man and ape predicted by Charles Darwin.
Archaeoraptor's moment of truth came in December when a Chinese researcher, Xu Xing, visited Liaoning and found evidence that the creature's tail had been stolen from a land-bound dinosaur called a dromaeosaur
Every time I tried to pick one up with my pteranodon it would IMMEDIATELY disappear. Someone tell me why ;-;

You can run a dungeon and find these lil bad boys lvl 25+ and the best part of it they glow, last thing it’s only 8 or a little bit more amber to revive it.
The Pidgey of Ark. Oh, the dignity.
They can also be used as a flock of very powerful birds if you have 10+ of them.
Adorable living parachute. I like to trap them under the feet of of my Dino and shoot it with tranqs, after that it's pretty easy. It's just very hard to find unless in scorched earth.
It is not taking Chitin anymore!…..
⚠️⚠️THEY ONLY EAT CHITIN⚠️⚠️ So don’t bring meat
Nifty little tame, sadly you have to hand carry like other smaller carriers, it is not a shoulder pet.
This tame is for the mazes and areas that require you to jump or float over the floor or large pits.
They are not as good as a parachute, because parachutes are easily made and the glide down faster. The bonus to using one of these guys is you don't need bridges and they are small eggs for kibble. Overall a useful tame, but not nessecarily worth searching and using all the time.
They run away fast; bola quickly. Gillie suit. Just got a mating pair gonna see what they do. Quote from Ark Wiki:: "Tamed animals retain their timid nature and lack any sort of attacking ability, even when set on aggressive, and will only eat Chitin."
And yes they only eat chitin. But very useful as you can use them for gliding. Pretty cute and fun.
Quickly shoot one with darts. They seem only to be in redwood.
