A man in finely crafted hide armor with a spear and crossbow approached the cave entrance. There was a merchant of sorts with his cart parked in the front, offering stimulants, ammo, and other goods in exchange for raw materials. The man approached the merchant and asked if this was the place he was searching for, and the merchant said it was after hearing the man’s description. He offered some goods, but the man refused, claiming he had enough. The merchant laughed as a parent does when their child says a silly answer to a question. “This may be the easiest to navigate cave,” the merchant warned, “but that doesn’t mean any old Bob can conquer the horrors within. I’ve seen experienced men with metal armor and guns enter and come out with nothing but their old stone tools and a torch.” The man simply ignored the merchant and walked through the entrance. He wandered through the darkness until there was a fork in the path. He stopped and checked his map of the cave he received, but at that moment a trio of massive spiders fell from the ceiling. The man was caught off guard, but he took them down. A spear through the first one’s throat, a hatchet through the second’s skull, and he pierced the third one’s abdomen and stuffed his lit torch in the gaping wound, sending the spider reeling through the cave until it fell dead. He advanced forward, perfectly fine, until he heard a sound behind him. The spider with a hatchet right through it’s skull, blood and guts flowing out, staring him right in the eyes. The man dropped his other spear, and didn’t even have time to turn around before the Araneo bore down on him
