What is a ammonite used for? ammonite battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Utility
Roles
Resources: The Ammonite can not be tamed but does provided plenty of resources lincluding Ammonite Bile, Black Pearls, Chitin, Oil and Silica Pearls, which are all valuable for manufacturing, fabrication, and crafting various items that use these materials. Specifcally, the Pheromone Dart is made with Ammonite Bile, which can be used to make any wild creature aggressive to a targeted creature or survivor that is hit.
Enraging Wild Dinos: Though it is often unfavorable to attract much of the deep sea or cave predators toward you when attacking an Ammonite, it could possibly be useful in specific situations of underwater ambush or escape.
Taming assistance: Their rage ability can be an annoyance but is perfect for drawing the attention of rare animals for taming to safe locations.

- What kind of creature is it? -
The Ammonite is a creature that lives in the deep sea. It's quite harmless until you hit it. When you hit it, it sprays a kind of ink at you, which attracts the attention of absolutely every creature. Even neutral and timid underwater creatures will swim from a great distance to give you a good beating. Sometimes, even when you kill the Ammonite with one hit, it sprays ink at you for 10-15 seconds. So, don't just mess with it, especially if there's something quite powerful swimming nearby.
- Usefulness -
I don't even know what to write here...
But I'll tell you about one bug, though I don't know if it's still working or not. When you want to tame a mosasaur, it has a height peak, somewhere in the middle of the ocean depths. To reach this peak, you must hit the ammonite, causing it to release ink on you. Swim up to the mosasaur, and when it's close, slowly begin to rise upward during the ink timer. This will cause the mosasaur to glitch and swim to shallow water. The ammonite also drops useful resources.
- Loot -
Ammonite loot is abundant, and it's beneficial to kill it if you're on an Ichthyosaur (meaning you can avoid attacking creatures after inking):
Ammonite Bile
Black Pearl
Chitin
Oil
Raw Meat
Pearl

Mr. Exp grinder for mosas. Depends on areas though. Higher chance of survivability if done near the shore, (on mobile) and with a mosa or basilo. Just be ready to go all out on flanking. I actually have 2 large storage boxes full of angler gel from these. Also among the best bet to get black pearls. Do not engage when low level. Later midgame levels and late game levels are the best times to use these for exp grinding.
This creature could be used to up a already really powerful sea creature by utilizing its distresss, call. 1: hit it 2: get out your sea creature, 3: get out you frogz 4: forget actually getting ready for this 5: drop your tribe mate into the action (with handcuffs) 6: wait for the creatures to leave, steal his stuff
