If I’m you’re in late game and you need metal, and you just so happen to have a quetz and a platform saddle, (you do not need one but it will be a little harder) you get as many ankys as you want or anything with weight reduction for metal, and fly around with an argentavis on follow if you want that extra that extra weight off, and park your quetz somewhere then get an anky and your argentavis, collect your metal, then store in the ankys, if you do not have a platform you could just carry around your anky with your argentavis. Once done you could just put some in your argy and some in your anky and put you argy back on follow. I hope you found this helpful

Since ankylos have a much higher weight reduction, if you really want to maximize metal for each run, you should keep all the metal in the ankylo while picking it up on an argy or quetz and placing it next to metal rocks.

Easier said than done but get a magmasaur and level up weight. It'll one shot nodes and with 300 melee I get like 600-700 metal each hit on official 1x gathering.

A good way on aberration is to bring karkanos with anky and when you finish with one rock use your karkanos to throw it

Crystal isles has one of the best metal areas to farm. Close to the red ob on a river past a mountain range that has some red trees on it you can find a river that gets you stone metal and obsidian. 👍

The way i go on metal runs is go to the desert with a quetz and an anky on its platform and i get the metal and put my anky back on the quetz and it barely weighs anything because of weight reduction note: i only do this on official servers if its unoficial and inf weight this wont matter and you can use cryo pods

To get your first metals, look for river rocks and use a pickaxe (preferably metal). If you don't have a metal pickaxe, get one is easy and worth it! First, it costs 1 to be create in a forge. When you have a molten metal pickaxe, hit river rocks. You can get up to 20-40 metals per minute if you farm constantly.

MidGame metal :

Argentavis (optional saddle)

get an argentavis, no saddle is needed just use a crossbow and narcotic arrows while running on a fast mount like a raptor, after having an argentavis ride a pteranodon and go to a place with a lot of metals and use your metal pickaxe.

Mid - End game metal :

requirements :

Argentavis with saddle

Ankylo with saddle

Take the Anky to a place with many metallic rocks using the argy, release it there and collect metal with the ankylo and take it back home with the argentavis

EndGame massive metal : use a quetzal with a platform saddle with several ankylos collect metal with the ankylos until they are all full the quetz will not carry the weight of the metal only the weight of the ankies

What you need to do is find rocks on mountains or shores(the shores have shinier, more rounder rocks) and hit then with any kind of pick.
