In this guide you will find ways to get metal at the beginning of the game easily even massive metal farms!
Early game metal :
requirements :
Pick or metal pick.
To get your first metals, look for river rocks and use a pickaxe (preferably metal). If you don't have a metal pickaxe, get one is easy and worth it! First, it costs 1 to be create in a forge. When you have a molten metal pickaxe, hit river rocks. You can get up to 20-40 metals per minute if you farm constantly.
MidGame metal :
requirements :
Argentavis (optional saddle)
Ptera with saddle
Metal pick
get an argentavis, no saddle is needed just use a crossbow and narcotic arrows while running on a fast mount like a raptor, after having an argentavis ride a pteranodon and go to a place with a lot of metals and use your metal pickaxe.
Mid - End game metal :
requirements :
Argentavis with saddle
Ankylo with saddle
Take the Anky to a place with many metallic rocks using the argy, release it there and collect metal with the ankylo and take it back home with the argentavis
EndGame massive metal : use a quetzal with a platform saddle with several ankylos collect metal with the ankylos until they are all full the quetz will not carry the weight of the metal only the weight of the ankies
More Metal Tips
This is for newer players so please don’t downvote because your Quetz and anky can get more. Step one make a raft with a bed and some storage and if you want to you can put a furnace down. Step two if you have an anky get them on the raft with some ramps and roofs. Step 3 look at the ark wiki and find the nearest metal rocks (the gold ones). Step four Christopher Columbus your a$$ over there. Step five for longer stays make a little house nothing fancy even 2 foundations a bed and storage with some backup gear will do. Step six get that metal. Also bring way more than you think you ever will, 1900 metal ore will only make 10 longneck rifles. If ur on mobile just go to the top of the volcano and there will be all the metal, obsidian, and crystal u will ever need with ZERO things that want to kill u.

Poor people use a stone pick. Crazy people use a metal pick . Normal people use a anky rich people use a magmasour
Leave Anky Melee at 800 that’s cap adding more Melee does not get you more metal use the rest of the points on weight and health
Tame an anky and argy pick up the anky with an argy go to metal mountain then hit metal rocks with your anky and boom you have a metal making machine
I’ve noticed (for earlier starters like me) a good way to start is if you can get a meta pickaxe you can mine the little groups of rocks on the beach that look kind of shiny and they will give quite a bit of metal
Herbivore island has a bunch of metal rocks and there are no predators there
