They technically do spawn on Lost Colony as a Gargoyle that comes to life. Horrible little surprise in the City.

This tip will show you how to tame a Yi Ling, since I’ve not seen anyone post something like this yet.

So you’ll need the following:

High durability armour

A lot of Plant Species Z fruit

A handful of narcotics or bio toxin

Once you acquire everything you need, head to anywhere near rivers/lakes in the green zone on aberration since they most commonly spawn there, when you find one it would be best to be at a flat surface. You will also need to clear out any other wild Dinos or Yi Ling that you aren’t trying to tame, once you do that you’ll have to let it pelt you with it’s feathers, when you get pelted with around above 30 feathers it will spin in the air then divebomb onto you and you’ll need to time throwing a Plant Species Z fruit at it when it does so.

If you do this successfully then the Yi Ling will become stunned, walk up to it and feed it either narcotics or bio toxin which will increase its torpor bar depending on which of the two you’re using, you’ll have to rinse and repeat this process depending on the level of the Yi Ling until it knocks out. Once unconscious, feed it it’s preferred taming food which is Exceptional Kibble and if you don’t have access to the kibble Raw Mutton will work just as well

I hope this helps anyone in the future for those that are stuck trying to tame one, get to it fellow survivors

Save your sanity and build a trap:

2x2 stone foundation

16 stone doorframe

Stand in middle, keep feather stacks at 30+ and wait for yi ling to dive, it'll get stuck on doorframe, throw plant species at head, feed narcotics, repeat...

Why does everyone make tips about its abilities from the fan submission of the creature.. wait for the dossier to release! Most of these features will most likely change! Or at least say “in the submission” instead of “it will have” it causes confusion, wait for wildcard to release the actual abilities, because they probably won’t be the same as the submission. (take Rhyniognatha or fasola for example)

Here's something, despite dododex saying you can't use a Bola. You can use a bola on the Yi lings. Hope this helps!

I tamed a level 80 with 6 bio toxin and 6 Z fruit, It tamed to 119 with mutton and had 1900+ health stat, they spawn around water in the green zone, my base is by the first river next to portal and I have found about 5 in 4 hours.

All these new creatures (arcalon creatosaurus armadoggo yi ling dreadnoughtus exnauthus deinosuchus and cosmo gigantoraptor ) can only be found on ascended

Suggestion: (take notes wildcard!)

Since so many people are saying it's too similar to velos and rock drakes, make it so the yi ling's feathers have different abilities that match the spores on aberration, and one other just because it sounds fun:

Freezing feathers; slow the enemies with each hit, stacking like the rhynio ability.

Hallucagenic feathers: make the enemy hallucinate, with a certain amount of feathers needed to be shot at the enemy to trigger.

Pheromone feathers: attract reapers, and make nearby reapers less resistant. If near the player, stops the baby from killing you, and provides a passive xp buff to the unborn reaper

So I’ve checked the tips and I saw a few things missing so here are some tips to taming this thing. This is all without a trap because using a trap is boring and it ruins the game.

So when throwing the fruits, point your camera as much down as you can, while still being able to see the yi ling. this way when it dives you hit the ground and he gets hit by the explosion.

Second, keeping an eye on the feather count may be hard, so check if the yi ling can dive by looking at the trail when it flies. If it is red, he can dive at any moment. If you don’t stun him by missing, he does a lot of damage. This could one or two-shot you. So always have good armor on. And have some sleeping bags nearby.
