Tips & Strategies

What are tips for yutyrannus? Tips and strategies for yutyrannus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
The fear roar doesn't work on rexes and bigger dinos and makes some dinos turn aggro. The ally boost effects dinos for different rates of time.
Kill a ovis and you can tame one of these
Thes guys get stuck on cliff sides very easy you can get them trapped almost anywhere with a dip in a snowy mountain side.
These thing aren’t particularly hard to tame, but there not super easy either; if you ride a small, fast mount it’ll fear roar it and kill it. For a trap you should build a 2by2 stone build with Ramps, but you could build a 3x3 to be safe. Their fast but not to fast, so I recommend trying to get as close as possible to your trap when trying to get to aggro on you into the trap, so you can get in the trap before it hits you to much, then just traq it till it knocks out and give it some prime. You can get prime in the arctic by killing mammoth or carnos.
Be careful when attempting to approach a Yutyrannus as it may have Carnos with it (That are probably damaged buffed), if you have a quetz (or anything that can pick up Carnos), attempt to grab the carnos to draw them away from the Yuty (Or kill them outright, although the Yuty may take damage), making it less dangerous. At this point, when the carnos are gone, build and lead the Yuty into the trap WITHOUT A DINO. If you bring a dino with you at this point, it will likely be scared from the roars, screwing you over. After the Yuty is detained, it's a simple wailing of torpor till the big fluffy dinos gives up the ghost, which is when you feed it to have a cute, deadly, strength inducing badass that is the Yutyrannus!
Packmate, I've been a Yutyrannus rider for a long time. I prefer Yutys over Rexes, as their control level is super high and they synergize well with pack creatures and apex predators alike. Their bites have crazy knockback, sending your prey over to your allies.
A Raptor pack is extremely dangerous when they stick by a Yutyrannus rider's side. Between my imprinted Raptors, their Pack Chant and the Courage Roar, my prey was killed so quickly that I legitimately forgot that they were even there for two seconds. It happens even faster when I have a five-pack of critters: three Raptors and two Allosaurs. Deinonychus work great, too!
Courage Roar adds even more damage to fantastic abilities like a Spino's Hydrated, Deinonychus' bleeding attacks and a Wyvern's breath weapon.
Lemme put it this way, packmate: Yutys are amazing for those who take the time to know their animal companions, or for Tribe cheiftains. Wild man or Tribesman, you can't go wrong with this tyrant.
Quite a difficult as it is fast so when running is hard to shoot at with crossbow and tranqs however with a trap or a good hill point and a fast tame of your own its is only about a 10 minute mission. Also i like to tame carnos as they can be annoying to kill and easy to tame and even in the wild they are a good combo
Tame a yutyrannus and then tame Rex’s and then take down anything
To trap all you need is 3 stone Dubble door frames 1 foundation and 2 ramps
put the foundation down
2 frames stacked on the front
1 frame on the back
2 ramps connected to the 1 frame on the back
Hit yuty make it run it the trap from the ramps
Kill the carnos
Knock out tame it and boom yuty
So, I just love ❤️ the yuty because of how much knockback they do and the roar.
I have one in lost island and the island and they are both level 30
And are great.
I would recommend leveling up stamina to 1k and melee to 300- 350
, health to 1800 at least.
Note: these stats are for low levels
For killing the Carnos I’d recommend doing meleeis you have a good sword/pike and good health.
If you can’t do that just snipe with my preference being a longneck or pistol and male sure that you on a place that the carnos can’t get you or frankly, your screwed. And don’t take tames up close or the yuty will roar and your tame will run away.
For leveling, I’d recommend the snow biome if you have good gear at a goodish yuty. If not, the beach is easy and a good choice but not many high exp animals
Taming:I don’t like to use traps, but you should probably use one if I have to use traps I go for a simple ramp-pen.Use stone for it and once the carnos are dead just kite it into the trap and walk up the ramp jump through the doorframe. (Don’t use a tame as you might get stuck in the doorframe).
For food just feed whatever you have except fish. Kibble is the best.
Just so everyone knows, their not on mobile so don’t waste time trying to find them.
They spawn in the snow biome.
And yes, the roar scares some creatures but for most it just aggros on you.

If you're trapped a Yuty recommended for you to just leave it for a few mins then knock it out. This way will be an instant taming that's because when you leave it until it's hungry as its moving too much in the trap as it tries to escape
Or tries to eat you.....? (just meme)
When trying to knock it out, if it roars it resets torpor like a giga.
They spawn mostly in the Arctic to my knowledge, they arn't hard to trap, just use a taming raft.
These are one of my favorite tames but they are quite difficult to get. DO NOT USE A FLYER. They will panic and you will not be able to control them. Which can get you killed. I recommend using a rex with very high health to lure it away from any other predators but make sure it’s on passive so it doesn’t kill the yuty. Dismount while it’s aggro on rex and use best gun as possible with tranq darts. Keep an eye on the Rex’s health though. (I recommend several people and a backup rex) -a really cool person
Encounter = Death
Death = Lose all of your stuff
Lose all of your stuff = Start again making things
Making things again = No protection for a while
No protection for a while = Enough time for a Yutyrannus to come, kill you again, and destroy your tames and stuff.
My encounter didn’t end well (I think you can tell).
When I was taming mine, it fell into a gorge. After that I just shot it from the top of the gorge, when it ran I got on my bird and flew to the bottom of the gorge and shot it. It later fell to the ground where I fed it meat and tamed him. I named him Copper, and he’s very useful, and I recommend him for boss fights
At first I was afraid it would nock me off my tame when it roar’s, but turns out that it just gives you blinding and loss of control, and any tips on what isn’t afraid of its roar.
