One of the easiest trap free way of KNOCKING OUT one of these snow foxes out is to use a karkinos and grab it with the left claw specifically. Do NOT grab with the right or it will still be able to teleport and hit you, instead use the right claw to clear its clones if it managed to summon any and once the area is clear just hop off and use a longneck and pump it full of darts. I do not recommend using a compound bow as it tends to get quite low HP or even often times kill it. yes you are able to tame it passively by sneaking up and claiming it (unless the removed this option) but this method is how to safely tame it without using a trap or doing to "claim it" method. This isn't efficient like the walk up and claim it option everyone uses but if you decide to ko tame it this is the way to go
More Veilwyn Taming & KO Tips
From my experience, the small fox will summon βdecoyβ foxes (aka the foxes friends), if spotted, it will be skittish and summon more decoys. To tame this polar pal you must crouch down and sneak behind the foxes until you find the original, once found, a claim button will appear.
This one is real simple.
You just claim it, lol
All you need to tame one is track it with the binos just in case if it makes a clone. After sneak behind it and claim it that simple. You can only claim the original
This is a very easy tame, just walk up to it with Ghillie while crouching, and claim it. Pretty powerful creature once tamed too. Has the same mechanic as the Armadoggo where it is a companion creature and cam't be killed.
Don't walk up to it, crouch.
If Claim* isn't available on the primary Veilwyn (not the clones as it won't appear) then jump so it runs and then crouch to it again as it resets.
Claim it with Y or Triangle on PS.
Drop whistle in to hot bar and make call friends* the primary usage. Thos way you can always have 6 following you.
Get around 3k hp and rest in Melee for support pet.
Hp and Weight for a free teleporting storage box!
Or breed and get tons of melee and have a free eleite army traveling with you.
If it dies, it will just respawn as long as you have it as a pet.
Try and get multiple of them claimed for each task, and aim for 340%+ on melee as this varies in the wild.

Was fed misinformation you can actually walk up to it and push (y) find right one and dont spook it. Dont have knock out
The new ice fox is also an passive tame itβs best you passive tame it cause it can be insta tamed on passive doesnβt matter the meat or kibble it still get insta tamed and knockout taming is kinda slower
Not sure if its a glitch but dont do anything just crouch walk up behind it and claim to tame dont need kibble or knock out
There are Veilwyn on the Extinction map as well.
You have to have DLC for this tame
