Tips & Strategies

What are tips for tropeognathus? Tips and strategies for tropeognathus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
A tip is that the food goes down every time its Bola, meaning you can Bola it, wait 30-40 seconds after its free, rinse and repeat about 6-12 times and voila, you tamed a trope at a fraction of the time
You can actually find these guys outside of Crystal Isles on console. They spawn about the same spots as tapejara’s. Good luck finding them, and have fun!
Took me about 2 hours to tame a 140 on X4 official. Took about 35 minutes between the feedings excluding the time between the first and second feeding, which always takes a long time for passive tames. It kept agro no matter how far and how long I left it in the trap. I'm wondering if it's like an equus and only loses food when moving. Cause 2 hours to tame it during a X4 event is nuts. No way it's a 8 hour tame during normal rates.
Timer is off a considerable amount, tamed a 140 and timer was 45 minutes for second feeding and 35 minutes for third feeding and on. Official rates during 4x event
To make it a bit easier to tame trap it and use regular bolas to drain the food down then use the chain Bola to tame it you will use 5 or so and get a perfect tame
Do not go out of render it will escape from the trap
It only aggro the player who shoots at it with the bola, so a duo tame is easier because the guy who shoots at him will get grabbed and the other guy don't, so one guy only shoots and the other only feeds, after the first bola i suggest to not feed the trop right after trowing the first bola, instead let the food drain until 25% so you can tame it in a much lower time
If u want to avoid long wait times between feeding I suggest trapping the Tropeognathus and then using 1 or 2 regular (not chain) bolas to drop its hunger level as doing this seems to make it lose hunger very fast. Then when u want to tame it place your balista, fire a chain bola at it, pick up the balista again (for future use) and then run up from behind the bolad Tropeognathus and feed it.
I have not seen any comments detailing the use for raids. It can outfly pteradons and wyverns plus any other flyer, and it is faster than the projectiles from the fire, frost, and poison wyverns. It is perfect for getting out quick if the counter raid was successful or if you need to get out quickly. Me and my buddy were raiding when we found ourselves outnumbered by two. Noticing our eminent defeat, we grabbed the heavy turrets and what we could. He got on and I grappled to it while whistling to my tera. It only took a second for him to put it into max speed and we were out of there. This is the perfect Dino for long distance transport and raid escape. Another thing is if you are losing a raid and you know it’s over, you can load the tropeo up and get out of there. You can make a second floor gate area where it is loaded up with base supplies and materials, and when it’s needed you can get out quick. This dino has a lot of flexibility in the game and with the saddle is very valuable.
A 150 took 35 mins between bolas and kibble feed. Don’t get too close - you need to punch to get away which resets the taming bar. Also only keeping it caught under a ceiling with 2 columns seemed to work. If it can fly up and flee even in a larger trap. taming % plummeted quickly.
I used a double door frame trap with a dino gate and ceilings owl to kite owl can fly through the double doors np
I used this dino to feed my Pterandons 1 Pterandon died though the others ate it
Though no data is available, the Tropeo is breedable, rideable, however not carryable by any other animal/dinosaur.
I think it’s Amun’s to clubs and fists
These guys can pick you off your mount and fly you higher in the air if agroed, its good to have a Simonacrops or a glide suit just incase this happens
Feeding inteverals are actually 20 mins long instead of five. I’m was taming 145 male tropo. On 1x taming. Official server. And after first feeding the next feeding to get to 14 percent take even longer. About an hour. After that comes 20 min feeding intervals. And I used raw mutton.
Mutton takes the same Time frame in between feeds as kibble but gives less percentage so the timer is wrong for food choices.
It seems that the stats here are wrong. It won't accept a second serving of prime meat after 5 minutes.
When tameing the trop use a normal bola and place 3 pillars with a ceiling in a triangle close to the trop then place a slope ramp in center so he can’t get out. When feeding him first see how far his hungry goes to feed him and that is the time to feed.
