Found the tidepup on astreos on the new island if needed look on wikily for location info but idk if they r rare but can be found, i brought it to my base into a trap brought some dinos like otter and dodo and tamed it that way

You can indeed tame these by using your own health instead of a tame’s; starvation is the most effective method I’ve found so far, as it will heal you for a small amount, nap, wake, and be ready to heal you again by the time you naturally get below ten percent of your maximum health bar due to continued starvation.

if you use a syringe and drain your health to 10% or lower(without dying ofc lol), the pup will try to heal u aswell entering the state in which u can feed it

I found the best way to evolve it is to make sure your HP is over 300. Set the threshold to 250. Use a tek rifle and point at the ground to hurt yourself with the splash damage until it triggers the healing. Then eat a rare flower/mushroom to activate the debuff remover. Repeat over and over until it evolves. Every 30 seconds hurt yourself with the tek rifle then eat rare flower/mushroom.

You can injure yourself by getting bloodpacks and let it heal you for evolution progress. Its not hard but just takes a while, youre also working toward a bloodstalker while getting an evolved tidepup.

WARNING: if your tidepup cocoons itself it will lose all of its growth to evolve

Rare flowers activate their debuff ability which also counts towards their evolution progress. You can alternate between standing on a campfire and eating rare flowers to evolve them. The wifi symbol on the right is the bebuff cool down and the numbers that show up at the bottom show you the health buffer threshold for the health regen ability. So if you set the threshold to 50 you'll need to take 50 damage to activate the ability. But you'll need to take the damage quickly to reach the threshold. The actual amount of health you have doesn't matter. Once the ability activates the numbers at the bottom will change colors and start to countdown before you can activate the ability again. The number of times you need to activate one of the abilities to get a growth surge seems to change as you progress

You can evolve these safely by putting the tidepup on your shoulder and accessing your own beehive a few times to get low health then sitting on a chair until you heal, then repeating.

For easier evolving: have damaged threshold set to 50. stand on lit campfire next to spikes to maximize damage to enable healing. During the 30 second healing cooldown, step off the fire and eat a rare mushroom to activate dispel.

To get it evolved you have to hurt yourself till it heals you. Best way to do that is to stand in the campfire

easiest way to tame a Tidepup is just to bring a small dino that you can safely injure a little, walk it over to the Tidepup, and let the little guy heal it. Every time it finishes healing your dino, you get a chunk of taming progress. Then you just wait for the Tidepup to chill for a bit, hurt your dino again (not too much), and repeat the process. It’s super low‑stress since the Tidepup doesn’t get aggressive or anything, so you can take your time and just cycle the heal → rest → heal loop until it’s yours.

If you wanna find some quick, just use the NW spawn for ocean biome. Head SE after you teleport. You'll find plenty in and around the cove there.

A good strategy is tame this, get bloodpacks and heal yourself really fast which gives this guy progress and gets you closer ti a bloodstalker.

I recently discovered that the Tidepup can deflect dilo venom projectiles...

They are easier to separate for me with a wooden cage. I plop one down and try to get the high lvl one in and once thats in and trapped, i can kill the others. Leave aggro range and come back and its ready to go.

I use a campfire and burn myself down low hp to activate it. It screams and heals me and i can open the cage, feed, close the gate. Rinse and repeat easy peasy.

Use the extended hud setting in your clickwheel it helps with figuring out your hp levels

you will NOT ko him if you try to I will hunt your base down and destroy it you just gotta heal your tames from this dude

You can also hurt yourself with something like a campfire to tame it instead of using a tame.
