For some reason these things are great swimming mounts and move very fast in water

This used to be my favorite creature even during the old mobile. I remember I was a noob and my cousin who taught me ark got frustrated that I would play 10 minutes a day but never progressed because of raptors and argys, so he made me watch a top 10 best tames by axeman and I saw something climb a tree. I stayed the entire video to watch what that creature was and it was number 1 on his list it was the thyla. Even though on old mobile I used many op creatures like the giga, rexes, quetz, spinos, and griffins I always said my favorite creature was the thyla. Even though I never used it. Just yesterday I went on my rhynio on the new mobile and found a max level. I tamed it and it became my favorite creature once again.

These wildcats will pin you to the ground similar to what crocodiles do to kill you. They can also climb any surface or cliff face. Awesome for scouting out enemy territory under the radar.

Wonderful mount to grab, the best part is the climbing cliffs. Run right up to them and hit and hold the jump button, if you can do it you can climb the mountains. They also have a bleed effect that helps when dealing with large predators or high health dinos.

Yes, they are evil jump and pin guys sometimes they carry you off for a distance, best defence is to always be prepared with a strong spear on hand, when they stun wait till the timer is done and then jab away. I find an easy tame method, hit em from extreme range with a really strong long rifle and electrolized tranq darts or regulars. Keep mounted on a decent health tame and keep shooting till it goes down.

Oh and after taming, you can sit on them and fire your rifle while mounted, so they are great for taming more of their own kind.

Best pvp mount EVER. Better than gigas and rex's because they are easier to tame and have more stamina. It's only real threats while riding it in the wild are microraptors, gigas, and other players on gigas and thylas. It can kill almost anything it finds, and the things it can't kill, it can outrun EASILY.

Easily a Top 5 creature in the island + scorched earth tame but in other maps it's not that good

This is my all-time favorite mount it's fast, does damage, and climbs almost anything

I'm a perfectionist so I never end up taming one of these with cooked prime meat or lamb chops for like 70% taming effectiveness (they prefer cooked meat to raw meat) but also getting exceptional kibble is such a drag even though it's absolutely worth it.

In summary if you aren't too lazy get exceptional kibble and breed these, an imprinted one is the mount you'll use 90% of the time

These things are absolutely BEASTS. Me and a friend went to tame stalkers in rockwells garden, and me and my r thyla literally took on a whole army of creatures, including alphas while the stalker was being tamed. They are 100% worth it, so much damage, so much health.

If you want something that can climb really good get a megalania. If you want something that can somewhat climb but hits hard get a thyla. If you want something that can climb very good and hit hard get a rock drake.

Build a trap, 2x2 stone will work, but I recommend 2x3 to make it easier to drop them in via birb.

Shoot them through windows, now have fun baby sitting its torpor and waiting for it to starve.

If you manage to tame one of these they are an awesome ground mount. They can climb sheer cliffs in a heart beat and have a 3 story vertical leap. They are fast, and durable. Mine is lvl 82 at the moment. I killed a lvl 14 alpha carno and only lost a third of my health. I feel safe on this guy and he can take me anywhere. Just look out for them in the redwoods. They are very tough to tame without a trap. One you have one they will become one of your favorites. They are great in the water too. Dump levels in health and damage.

i tamed one in the desert on Crystal Isles. i didn’t know it could climb up any vertical surface. i thought it could only climb the Redwood Trees. tame one of you like climbing stuff

These can be a solid upgrade from a deino if you're willing to trade speed for more health and climbing ability

I have not tamed one of these, and I’m curious, can they climb on trees and walls once tamed?
