If you are crossing the red woods on a flyer, go higher than the trees, these things ripped me of my ptera and violated me so many times

Best tactic I've come up with is to (double check before entering red woods) have your flyer following you and on Neutral/Attack your Target. When you're pounced off your mount, use a melee weapon in quick slot 1 (sword works perfectly) while your flyer backs you up in a few seconds, you'll almost certainly make it :P

Fly high and they cant dismount you. Otherwise avoid flying through redwood!

Flew on my Argy through the red woods and spotted a level 140 on a tree. Then a stone trap nearby. I shot him with my pistol to aggro him to come down. I flew by and picked him up and dropped him near my trap. First time I missed but landed near the opening on the ramp to the trap. He fell right in

Be aware that ark will be ark and these tree kitties will still continue to defy the laws of physics and jump like 5 mile distances

if you have a sword and decent armor, you should be ok if you get pounced on by a low level one. i know this because it’s happened to me multiple times, and i’ve always been able to kill it before i got too much damage. just kill it quickly enough so it doesn’t kill you with the bleeding rebuff it gives

Yeah, just let the first one today. The wife and I got two of the pelicans fr the beach tamed and mounted, and we're trying to get crystal. So we head to the redwoods, start flying through the massive trees when she goes "wtf of that" before Randy Orton nabs her ass and yeets her sixty feet down, pinning her to the ground and mauling her. She tried stabbing it with her pike but, it had her too good and her, her mount, and her otter were butchered. Luckily I was able to land on a cliff overlooking the...well, crime scene at this point, and headshot it with a rifle after it killed one of those giant rhinos and a few snakes.

And the snakes killed my bird too, so, yay, another taming run.

When I used to play mobile I found out later that thyla’s don’t spawn. Now I play on PS4 and I now understand some player’s pain

Most of them are found in the red wood forest but be careful everything wants to kill you in there but they sometimes jump down from trees or jump on you without you know so use a dino that is fast and strong and bring some bio toxin arrows they dont kill it but it does its job

You can climb a wall and then dismount, making the Leo the most space efficient mount available. Also looks terrifying perched on your base walls.

This thing is very good for taking down strong dinos if you combine its force with a pack of direwolves. I rode on a level 40 thyla with 3 level 150 direwolves and we absolutely destroyed stuff on scorched earth. We could take down a rock golem easily because of the insane dps this group has. I would 100% recommend this for mid-late game.

I’d never tamed one before and wanted to give it a go. Found one up in a tree near my base. Built a stone 3 x 2 pen that’s 2 walls high. Shoot at the beast in the tree but it got distracted. Decided to go look for it, suddenly it thought I was more tasty. I ran around the pen in circles until I trapped it inside with me. I placed the final two windows, armour was on the brink of breaking. I squeezed through my doorframe and there I had a successful catch. I used cooked mutton for my tame. Most terrifying thing I’ve ever done but definitely worth it.
