What are tips for thylacoleo? Tips and strategies for thylacoleo in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Hey! Don’t wanna die?
D o n t. G e t. C l o s e.
I had a level 258 thylacoleo that I deeply adored. I got pulled off my saddle and killed by a sarco. I lost her for a week until I found her again. I got attacked by a Rex and died and lost her again for two days. I found her again and while trying to rescue a tribe member from a shark, I got cornered by jellyfish and she was killed.
Moral of the story, they may seem unstoppable, but you must always respect the jellyfish.
Thylacoleo can be found in the redwoods of the island. Be wary though they can lunge at you from the trees and dismount you from your tame so be alert.
One the best ground mounts in the game(in my opinion) especially with a fully imprinted one. There is little lake in the redwoods where two can spawn if they aren't any there just clear the area. Oh yeah, Purlovia can spawn there as well.
You can fly in on a quick Dino and pick it up and bring it to a near by taming pen and then do the old fashion knock out and feed.
Don't mistake these guys for beehives like i did. R.I.P Chris D'Elia, my favorite argent, and your mastercraft saddle.
NEVER EVER land a fliers on the ground
Thylacoleos can be found in a redwoods area of the map that you are on. But if you are playing extinction they can be found in the wasteland or sometimes the desert.
How I tamed two of these bad boys (actually one after another: one female and one male) is that I just encountered them running after some prey, got on high ground with an argentavis and shot one with tranq darts and tranq arrows; it went quickly unconscious but its torpor was draining pretty fast so I had to feed it narcotics (around 30 for an 8 lvl) or even bio toxin; the taming process was stupidly long for both of them, I used a lot of raw prime meat and regular raw meat but apparently they prefer cooked meat from what I've heard?
As I'm writing this, Thylacoleos are probably my favorite tames because of their versatility. I tried to somehow climb a huge redwood tree once I rode this beast and oh boy, it works so good.
I was planning out my new base I was planning to build neiboring the swamp and redwoods. and well... curiosity killed the cat. if that thing kills my argy, I won't be the only thing curiosity kills.
i live in the redwoods just have a good ape around to pound the fucker
Fly OVER the big trees or else you get the punishment
They can jump way farther than you think from their perch in a tree. Thought I could land near one to try and net it and tame but nope lol. Luckily you can fight back after they have you in their tackle hold, IF you don’t panic and sit there for them to shred you XoX
Enjoy
Was coming back from volcano with 3 new argies and stopped for a minute to get stamina. We were right beside the redwoods and we’re about to leave when a thyla leaped off the tree far behind me and dismounted me. Luckily 3 argies and 2 pterodactyls were too much for it and it was killed easily. Also didn’t lose any dinos. That trip was hectic. We ended up on the opposite side of the map from our base and it too 45 minutes to get home from the volcano. Very dangerous, those redwoods.
I got lucky flying through red woods and found a red one on the ground attacking an argy. While it was distracted, I shot it with tranc arrows and knocked it unconscious. I obviously named her Red. BEST TAME EVER!!!
Be careful when flying through the trees in the Redwood! They will jump from the trees and snatch you off of your mount.
You'll find them both in the trees and on the ground. If in a tree, shot it down from a distance and once it's on the ground, wait for it to unaggro before chasing it with a bola.
Extremely useful creatures! They can climb player-made structures! I'm not 100% sure if they can climb metal, though.
