Easiest way to tame: make a dino pen, pick one up with an argy, put it in the dino pen then follow along with a basic taming process (knock it out, feed it). Make sure you have lots of narcotics on you!

Best thing about them: they can climb up really steep hills and they can potentially do lots of damage and can be fast.

Where to find: most commonly found on trees (they will be hanging upside down, high up on large trees) in the redwood forest areas (mainly on The Center) or I find lots of them in the Ragnorok desert.

Very good tame! They're like pet tigers.

If you need to fly though the redwoods get an argy and a parasaur on turret mode so u can see them in the trees

When taming try to shoot one with tranqs near the edge of the redwoods then lure them after you into a bear trap

some really nice guy on a fire wyvern was at the area where I was about to try and get a thyla and I said “don’t murder me I’m tryna tame a thyla”

he then flew off and I went to try and find a thyla when he flew back to my raft and dropped a level 50 thyla right into my boat trap

Since the flyer nerf my tribe has been breeding these. They are excellent swimmers and can take a hit. Encourage all to invest in them. They have replaced both our wolves and saber cats. Plus u can shoot while mounted

Be careful flying through the redwoods on any animal because this cat can dismount you just like a kapro and will pin your argy or pteradon to the ground and claw the hell out of it like it was a scratching post

Honestly When I was flying low on the island with my pteradon for it to land. A thyla came outa no where scaring the crap outa me. And knock me off but the best way to escape is either. Get back to your flying mount quickly to escape. Or tame it.

Redwood on Fjordur is a FLY ZONE, Thlyas only spawn on the ground, not on the trees!!!!

These guys are amazing on PvP servers, especially if you love playing stealthy like me. Set your base up in a tree in the redwoods, and find a nice tree to camp on. If you have good melee damage it’s almost a guarenteed kill, these guys are so fun

Climb the large Redwood tree with your tamed Thylo. You can turn and face toward the ground (just like the wild ones!) You will get crosshairs. If a smaller wild creature is below, you can aim, pounce, and it will chew on the prey for a few seconds (just like the wild ones!) Enjoy.

They do a slow drain bleeding attack now

If you wanna find them easily just tame a parasaur and use an arge to carry it into the red woods. Have the parasaur on turret mode so it can tell you where the thyla is. It may take a while but I see this as the safest way to find them. You just have to move slowly through.

Although I have never done this, I think these big cats could be great for stealing dino eggs. Just stole a Rex egg? And the mama Rex is chasing you? Climb a redwood tree or a cliff!

They’ll hit you through your shield when you’re pinned so don’t even bother putting it up. Your best bet which has worked wonders for me is immediately switching to your machete and start swinging the moment you get knocked out of your flyer

Absolutely brilliant and really useful. Would definitely recommend taming one of these. They have great attack damage, health is also great and they are soooo useful for getting around the island (really fast and really fun to ride)

Thylas make amazing combat/travel mounts.

They have the stats of a spino which is ridiculous for a creature of this size, and then on top of that, they have many amazing traits which I keep discovering.

To name a few:

-They can run pretty fast.

-They can jump really high and grab onto vertical surfaces and then move up or down on that surface.

-They can do a special attack from vertical surfaces, which in order to perform you have to first move the cursor downwards toward ground and then press the atk button , which they jump unto small and medium creatures , pinning them to the ground for about 8 seconds or so, all the while you can attack them but they can't. Amazing against flyers and stuff.

-They can do their attack while sprinting and jumping.

-they can instantly turn around 180° to attack those creatures that attack you from behind. Which you can't turn around to attack them on many other mounts. To do this 180 spin, press jump while looking towards the back of your mount.

-They can control their jump, press back or forward to control where you fall.

-They can and prefer eating cooked meat , which eating them makes thylas heal much faster than raw meat or berries that normal tames can eat.

-their attack also does bleeding damage which piercers armor and depletes around 5% of the bitten creatures health over 5 seconds. Ranking their damage dealing capabilities off the charts.

-their main attack has good range. Making you able to attack creatures outside of their damage dealing range. For example you could attack from on top of a rock while raptors and such keep looking at you.

-as mentioned earlier, their stats are all really high, which makes them a pocket rex/spino. (damage, health, stamina are very high and weight is also quite high)

Thylacoleo can only climb up the gateway part (e.g. The stone part of stone behemoth gateway) not the actual gate istself( the opening and closing part). This goes for all other gates to. Also if you didn't know already, you jump and hold space to climb.
