I found out a while ago flying above them isn’t safe I don’t know if it’s a glitch but two pounced up at me and ripped my off my argent but when I went back with my wyvern another one pounced at me and just bounced off so if you have one use a wyvern if you don’t just accept the fact you will die over and over again but it’s worth it I have 8 thylas I got a new one just today they are in my opinion the best all round mount the only thing I think that comes close to being as good as a thylacoleo is a griffin

You cannot be dismounted from a stego using hardened plate mode, and hardened plate makes your stego take 50% already, so a stego is a great way to tame your first one, or for going into the redwoods in general. Be aware, the bleed damage is not reduced.

If you want a thylacoleo look around the mountain and tords carnivore island I saw 5 of my 6 there!

ALWAYS carry a shotgun. If you get grabbed the two shots from a shotgun can quickly weaken the thyla or even kill it. At the least it'll give you a fighting chance of surviving. either pike it to death or let your mounts to finish it off

If you are going to fly into the redwood forest, go in pairs. That way if one person gets tackled the other can pepper it with bullets.

These guys are amazing for drop hunting and close calls. I was getting chased by a freaking giga in highlands ( ragnarok) and the wall climbing ability saved both me and my Thyla ivory.

Redwoods are such a pretty place, too bad this stupid thing ruins them

Don't believe the tips that say that you can't get pounced off a wyvern yesterday I got so mad because I got into a death loop trying to get to my wyvern (I have the death recovery mod its fine for my stuff)

These bad boys can rip you off many mounts, but not wyverns (tested!), contrary to some peoples' unfounded beliefs :) so don't fret, wyvern lords!

You can find them very easily, in Scorched Earth. Just go near mountains, and look for the Thylacoleos with a Spyglass. Then, get up on a nearby rock. Try to shoot them, because unlike when you’re riding them, they don’t climb up to attack you. They will just stand at the bottom of the rock, so then you will be able to get many Tranq Arrows into him. (Crossbow is better than Bow.) After you tranq the Thylacoleo, you should place a Campfire and cook some meat, because Cooked Meat is actually better to use than Raw Meat. To craft a Thylacoleo Saddle, you need 20 Metal Bars, and around 250 Hide, and 200 Fiber, so you should keep an Argentavis with you, because they might Server very useful. Then, you just Tamed a Thylacoleo!
