Tips & Strategies

What are tips for therizinosaurus? Tips and strategies for therizinosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Please man, if you are new to the game, and see one of these, TURN 180 DEGREES AROUND, AND RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
I know what you're thinking: I can take one of those! No problem!
Yeah, that's what I thought too. That's how I lost my lvl 28 Dilo Phospho, lvl 27 Dilo Sauro, two lvl 6 dilos (yes I am a Dilo addict- why do you ask?), AND lvl 6 Raptor Resilience- along with several dino eggs I was about to use to tame the darn thing. Those were all my first tames, by the way. (R.I.P to them- rest their souls, likely still haunting me to this day for my stupidity. I deserve it :D)
Trust me, YOU CAN NOT DEFEAT A THERIZINOSAURUS WITH ANY MELEE WEAPONS WITHOUT DECENT ARMOR!
Oh. And bolas don't work on them either. As if the LITERAL DAGGER HANDS WEREN'T ENOUGH.
If you see one of these early game, DO NOT ENGAGE. It's not worth it, and it will cause heartbreak seeing your tames die to these Edward Scissorhand spawns from the pits of Tartarus.
If you must tame one, please use a trap or load em up with tranq arrows from a VERY GENEROUS DISTANCE. They don't look it, but these things are SPEED. If it starts running at you, either pray to a god of your choice, or get on your mount and start running like your life depends on it- because it very well does.
Overall, if you don't have an Army of Trikes and Raptors to back you up or a getaway flier, I do not recommend confrontating one of these things. They are deadly- if the samurai sword fingers don't scream death and doom, I don't know what to tell you.

There is a trick in the ultimate mobile edition that saves you all your narcotics and a ton of time that is spent usually waiting for your knocked out dinos to slowly eat and fill the taming bar.
(Works with any dinos)
Step one:
Trap your dino that you are planning to tame. For example (Therizino).
DO NOT KNOCK IT OUT YET.
Step two:
Craft a thatch foundation and a bed and place it near the trap (ofc far away enough so that you won't get hit)
Step three:
Wait for nightfall and go to sleep on the bed.
Step four:
When you wake up, start pumpkin tranqs into the dino and knock it out.
After knocking it out, you will notice the food meter of the dino is downright 0. (In mobile edition, sleeping the night on a bed while a dino is trapped in your render distance, drops their food to 0 regardless of how high it is)
Step five:
Chug some food down its throat and see that taming bar soar up.
Congrats, you saved yourself hours of waiting and tons on narcotics which is usually required for a tame like therizino with a high torpor drain.
Tip: try and aggro the dino and kite it to a safe place or your base for a much safer process.
This is march 31st 2025 and it's still working.
Theris will drown if they pass out in water! Many tames won't drown when knocked out it rivers and streams, but these guys will. After 200+ hours the first 150 Theri I've found chose death over servitude...The hunt continues...
They are hard to tame but it’s worth it all I did is go on a high land high enough so it won’t hit ya then over load it with Trang arrows recommend crossbow not bow and they eat berrys even tho they sound like they eat meat THEY DONT REMEMBER THIS!!!
It's ridiculous how strong these are I hate them
Don't make the same mistake i did. I was taming a therizinosaurus and i left it alone for 30 seconds for water. When i come back, a pack of raptors came in and murdered him. WATCH YOUR TAMES PLEASE I FEEL SO SAD RIGHT NOW
If one of these comes near your house and you are low level, just put all your items in a chest (make sure you have a bed) and then use yourself as bait to lure it away from your tames
Only tamable if it's name is pronounced correctly...
This one is a hard tame to tame it just build a 4 floor building made of stone and get a ladder get on the building and get a bow or crossbow better to get crossbow then get 50 tranq arrows just incase you miss and keep shooting till it runs then chase it and keep shooting till it is knocked out then get alot of nacro berries about 300 or 400 then get alot of berries and wait it will take a while then congratulations you have the tickle chicken
If you see this thing chasing you RUN LIKE YOU HAVENT RAN BEFORE
Beware of the Death Chicken. It's claws slice through your tamed Carno's like a knife through butter.
I was just casually looking for a high level male Rex to breed with my high level female Rex when suddenly I saw one of these guys, a level 140 female theri so I decided to go back to base to make a trap and prepare next day i go back.. and it’s gone replaced by a level 90 male not far where I found the 140… am I the only one who this happens to?
If theri eat berri then why theri eat me):
Watch out when you attack neutral herbivores near Therizinosaurus because they act like some kind of Superman for herbivores and they will try to protect them.
Ok if you play Ark Mobile you know what I mean when THEY ARE EVERYWHERE AN Pay attention to the danger area icon an if you see just walk around it this MFS are fast as heck do not just run past them if you do just run around rocks an trees it will loose interest up if this was helpful
With its claws, a therizino has no doubt laid waste to entire civilizations. Your only hope is to run for it
