Sharpened plate mode is fantastic at getting biotoxin from red mushrooms, don't even need to be close enough to endanger yourself. Also gets great weight reduction on berries and all the Abberation mushrooms except aggeravic.

Theyre great starter tames on aberration. They help you farm berries and can deal with ravagers, they’re fairly tanky with a few levels into health and the saddle is accessible early game.

In short terms. Stegos have three modes, heavy plate, sharp plate, and hard plate.

Heavy plate gathers more thatch

Sharp plates gather berries and attacks with more power

Hard plate gathers more wood.

Also note that only pc and console can do this so Srry mobile.

I used one of these guys to gather trees and berries, never have to run around and gather fiber or wood anymore 😅

Great for gathering wood and thatch in low resource areas. Way better than the trike although it isn't nearly as strong.

Lvl up their weight there very slow

One fantastic trait of the stego is that you cannot be dismounted while riding one. This makes it a safe (albeit very slow) mount for exploring swamps and the Redwoods as thylas and kapros become far more manageable.

I spun a wheel of doom and landed on tame stego, and I was thinking omg this is gonna be pain! But it only needs like 15 tranqs with a crossbow and it tames super fast! It does need a crap ton of berries

The stegosaurus is great for wood gathering if you need a bunch and don’t have a lot of time because of their massive weight capacity. Even though it’s a pretty slow tame it is great for gathering resources in abundance.

Don’t just walk back unless you are that fast go on top of a rock to make it easier and use sling shot

Remember to have plenty of berries

When encountering a stego, think twice before taking one down as ALL stegos(including corrupted)are set to Hardened Plate. Hope this somewhat helps you all

Huge damage soakers, I’ve used them for almost every boss fight In the game, be sure to tame the tek variant to get those better stats

There are multiple stegos on herbivore island in the bottom right of the map (But probably in the top right because I always mix up the location of herbivore island and dead island)

They can kill alpha raptor.......my level 124 stego killed a alpha R level 94 with about 2000 health🙄

In Ragnarok, very common in the griffon area (ravine from about 40/30 to 40/50 and surrounding area) and the woods in top left (about 30/20 to 30/30 and up), tek ones too.

Best way to kill at early level is to make a line of spiked walls, wooden or metal, it doesn’t matter, shoot a stego with a bow or crossbow and run behind the fence. Watch it do all the work for you as it impales it self!
