Pros: Can gather a TON of thatch, along with wood and berries.

told my friend not to mess with it because we were early game but four deaths later we had a tamed one

When you have a fast mount, like raptor, it's extremly easy to knock them out. Just get your bow or crossbow and play cat and mouse.

From experience: You can tame it without a trap if you're fast enough, just make sure it's alone first. I used tranq arrows in a crossbow and just ran from it, turning around every few seconds to shoot. Not too hard to hit the head, to be honest. Of course I can't guarantee this will work for everyone, but it worked for me :)

When on abrration these guys are INSANE at getting all the kinds of mushrooms. If i can remember the sword buff is what gets alot of it.

While it’s taming try put gates or spike walls around so no predators come and debuff or kill the stego

It will attack you if you steal it’s eggs. If you get away from it, it will just go to your house and destroy it and all your stuff, so just kill it. A long range weapon is best.

Get lots of narcotic and be prepped for a looooong tame if high level

Here’s an easy trap for stegos place one stone foundation and four door frames and a wooden ramp

If the stegosaurus got damaged a lot wait for it to heal

You maybe need 20-50 narcotics and like 50 tranq arrows

You can find these on the herbivore island along with ankylos sometimes, from there you can climb onto one of the rock formations and knock them unconcious with tranq arrows(they are pretty bulky) If you have a good saddle blueprint for them(I have apprentice tier), then you have a very good berry and thatch gatherer on your hands.

I just used tranquilizers on him on a rock and fed him mejoberrys

The stegos is getting a tlc in tlc pass 3 along with the mammoth

It has well balanced stats and is good to have around.

So I just casually decided to tame a stego no PvP cus we were low on narcos and with one tail whip on them bushes I got like a 100 and when I went back to base I went back with 10000 narcoberries yeah that's right wayyy better then trikes

Stegosaurus are great thatch gatherers, you can get about 40 thatch per hit some times lower but the highest i have gotten was 63 thatch just by attacking 1 tree, but yeah there great for getting thatch

A mid game berry gatherer but useful beyond that too. Pump health, stamina and weight. You have a hardy mount that can take a beating.

1 crossbow with narco arrows 25-30

2 long neck rifle 65-70 narc darts

Chased on foot and ziggy ziggy pattern

Weaved threw tree if your lucky they'll get stuck

The one I tamed was 135

About 100-180 narcotics extra to keep down

these guys are great for stealing deinonychus eggs in valguero, if you manage to tame a high level stego

The stego is relly easy to tame just gotta avoid the tail I found mine stuck so it was easy but I suggest using tranq arrows to tame and some mejoberrys it’s relly useful for harvesting from plants I got like 500 of each type of plant from whacking plants with its tail.
