Tips & Strategies

What are tips for stegosaurus? Tips and strategies for stegosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Erm the way I do it is by running away and shooting with any longneck preferably ascendant with trank bullets and it will just get knocked out obv depends on level to the amount of Tranks you use
Give it berries instead of meat they do not eat the meat that you give it
If u ask me I would say the best way to kill a stego is just by backing up and shooting him with the sling shot
Where do you usually find stegos I want prime meat so can get more games
Honestly just go for a Trike instead
Doing 2 tests on these against gamma spider and monke and dragon with yuty courage roar, one with the tek, one with normal
No saddles on the tek ones since I think it’s a bit unfair they have the level advantage. Normal stego will be in a different post so let’s say this is pt1.
TEK
Gamma broodmother:At first, i thought they were doing nothing and the damage sucked. But I slowly saw the hp bar of the big spider going down. Brood kept healing but barely. They got down to half with no loses and we’re doing good. The araneos couldn’t do much since stegos have aoe and alas, the big spider went down to the stego fighting forces. Brood died in about 10 minutes.
Megapithecus: The monkey was healing and pushing stegos off. They stood almost no chance. The tek stegos held on for about 25 minutes before the last valiant warrior was pushed off the edge.
Dragon: Funnily enough, while fighting the boss a bunch of tek stegos had hatched and I needed to clean them up somehow so…. That’s how the dragon got here XD. Onto the fight now. I didn’t expect them to beat the dragon and unsurprisingly, barely any dmg. But they cornered it and started doing some dmg, but then liek 10 died. Still the rest bravely fought on. Then 2 more died. They dealt like 10% each time it flew down but it kept healing. Also after stegos my next Dino’s will be kentros. Anyways, 4 more died and only the 2 lone survivors remained. When the dragon landed again, one more died and there was one lone survivor. Eventually the lone survivor died and they were all eliminated, RIP tek stegos, they were all valiant warriors wether they destroyed the broodmother or died to the dragon/ megapithecus
Easy to tame with club just lvl up ur dmg and keep hitting its head slowly walk away while hitting its head
Slide to the item. To get to the item faster
For the one who tamed one w/ sling at lvl 18, i tamed one the same way lvl 10. So, I believe you.
Level into stam or meele because it gives more barriers if you up it's meele and if you up stam it can collect them faster with out having to stop
People keep saying to use tranqs but what if you’re just starting out on a new world and you are low leveled? Craft a bunch of slingshots and place them all in your hotbar. Make sure you have a bunch of stone to knock it out and aim for the head not spine or tail. I would say mejoberries are okay but carrots if you can find some and give it a soothing balm if you happen to have one to tell it that it’s safe and it’s everything’s gonna be okay to boost taming effectiveness. Stimberries are the worst to use and they make the torpor drop faster but try knock it out once and feed it stimberries until it wakes up and knock it out again and it will eat nonstop aka insta tame.
I was lv 21 and saw a stegosaurus I went to it and it was lv 9i attacked it and long story short I died so get at least lv 35 be fore attacking it
Basically what i did is lure it to dino gates lock yourself in have its head stick through and ko it with your slingshot or real men use there fists
Best used if you have a tapa and use tranq arrows
The stego heavy plate is very useful for taming as well as tribe warfare, the slowing effect seems to scale with its attack damage (my stego seems to slow down creatures more now that I’ve upgraded it’s melee damage a lot) . It’s most useful in what I call “miniboss scenarios”, wherein you and maybe some tribe mates and tames are all grouped around one enemy. For taming, I recommend setting your stego to passive, then hitting once with the heavy plate to slow the Dino, which for faster knockout tames like raptors, carnos, gallimimus, and others it will not only negate their advantage but also give you time to place bear traps or bola a particularly evasive creature. In tribe warfare, you can single hit with heavy plate then have an alternate stego(s) with sharpened plate or hardened plate move in for the kill once the enemy is slowed. Hope this helped!
In mobile get traqs then start shooting but olny works on lvl 30 or 40
Then when u knock it out then feed it 400 or more berries no narco then
Wait a bit then its yours.
When you want to tame one make sure to have plenty of tranqs on you
