Tips & Strategies
The stego Is by far One of the best wood, berry and thatch gatherers in the game, not to forget it's extremly tanky, making It useful for defense, and also great for sinking turrets.
Tame One as soon as you can!
(Plus the tek variant looks awesome!).
More Stegosaurus Utility Tips
With the TLC, the stego is one of the most useful creatures in the game. Its high health and good damage makes it an extremely useful utility mount, only rivaled in diversity by a few other well-known creatures, like the argy and the moschops.
The stegosaurus is very easy to tame. You only need a bow, lots of tranq arrows, and a cliff. Shoot the stego from the cliff, and chase it one it is running away. Since this is a utility post, there wonβt be much information on this area.
Once tamed, the stegosaurus has three back plate modes:
The hardened plate (orange): defends the stego making it tanky. It can harvest wood
Heavy plate (blue): instead of protection, it slows enemies using its primary attack. Harvests thatch
Sharp plate (yellow): gives the stego armor penetration. Harvests tons of berries
All modes prevent riders from being knocked off (microraptor proof!!)
The stego has a decent attack range and AoE. It also has a secondary (impale) attack which can hold down the enemy while draining its health. Use this against ASE forest titan on extinction.
Also, the stego is very tanky and carries a lot. The only downside being its extremely low speed. If you need anything that doesnβt have to be quick, the stego is extremely useful.
βCerato rider
With the new TLC the stego can easily become a must-tame early game dino for many players. It has 3 stances when ridden you can change between pressing C (crouch):
Heavy plate, boosting thatch gather rates and applying a heavy slow on hit targets.
Sharp plate, boosting berry gathering and attacks penetrate armour (useful for PvP).
Hardened plate, boosting wood gather and halves damage taken.
For combat, heavy plate is great for effectively rooting enemy and wild dinos in place, whilst hardened plate is to tank everything that comes at you. Sharpened plate shines together with allies that can slow and/or tank whilst you focus on dealing good dmg.
The alternate attack of the stego can impale creatures up to the size of roughly a parasaur, dealing damage based on attack damage. In order to do so the target must have a certain amount of health left, which is highlighted with the crosshair turning red when looking at the target (unsure how it is shown without crosshairs).
If your raiding someone and they have turrets you can use this guy to drain the turrets. Hit the arrow pointing to the sky if this helped
Lol to whoever struggling to switch stances on mobile, you can't.On mobile the stego is still the old stego
Single player uses:
1. Gatherer: Stegosaurus is among the best wood and thatch gatherers, and is also a good berry gatherer.
2. Early game power dino: Stegos are slower than a sloth on melatonin, but they are tanky for their size.
3. Redwood mount: You can't get dismounted while riding it, need I say more?
I have a stegosaurus called Strega and sheβs a GOD, can kill five giant beavers in a few swings, has very high health, doses decent damage, and helped me and my only tribe mate, my dad to tame our first giant beaver.
Great dino to collect a crap ton of berries, especially narcos for narcotics
When on abrration these guys are INSANE at getting all the kinds of mushrooms. If i can remember the sword buff is what gets alot of it.
Hardened will reduce incoming damage and prevent the player from getting dismounted. It does not gather berries, but it gathers impressive amounts of wood.
Heavy inflicts slow on targets and prevents the rider from getting dismounted. It gathers moderate berries and wood, along with large amounts of thatch.
Sharpened does armor penetration and prevents the rider from getting dismounted. It gathers large amounts of berries, decent thatch, and little wood.
