If you try to tame a spino, get it stuck on like the surface because if you knock it out in the shallows in the river mostly megapiranas will attack you and the spino.

Be aware of Genesis' X-Spinos, like all "X-"Dinos, having significantly increased damage resist, resulting in way more tranq darts needed than stated above. If you're going to tame an X-Spino, take at least double the amount with you!

Place 3 stone dino gates and one giant bear trap in middle, shoot it and boom here he comes... While he is on trap place last stone dino gate on the back ez tame. Really good in swamp everything fears them and kapro cannot grab you while standing in 2 legs.

You will need-

A crossbow

Trang arrows (at least 28)

A lot of raw meat (46)

Or raw fish meat (20)

Or prime meat or mutton

Fish meat is best though

Bio toxin or narcs

Now to tame it get on a cliff and take out your crossbow

Start shooting it it will aggro after some 8 arrows it will start fleeing chase it and knock it

Stabz~ Spinos are super fast on land so trying to knock them out without a trap can be tough.

I personally recommend going into a lake (yuh I know they are better killers in water) but a wild spino won’t go deeper in the lake than the surface for some odd reason (maybe ark glitch?) TRY IT!!! Please up this comment so others will see! :)

I was low level when I got mine (On single player too) it was always around the river I used for water and kept breaking my pipes. So I looked at a few guides and found an easy way to capture it. Just build a 3 x 3 of stone and build 3 stone door frames up on each side. On another build ramps going up to the top. Get the attention of the spino with your weapon (a bow will do) and run up the ramps, it might take a few tries but if it follows you slip through the door frame and it won’t be able to escape, then just knock it out with tranq arrows or darts. Guys!!!! Don’t compare the Rex and the Spino! Both are good at what they are. Spino is a glass cannon and gets a major buff in water. It has high speed, damage, range and knockback. Use this against small enemies to medium-large enemies to ultra decimate them! Even more when in water!!! It’s damage is what carries it. Rex is a tank that is used against bigger enemies. It has ultra health, high damage (but less than Spino), moderate speed, moderate range and has a ability to stun creatures and make them defecate! Use against small enemies for major advantage, as well as big enemies too! It does good at both tanking and damage, so it’s rounded up unlike the Spino. When comparing each other, none are better than the other. They are both very good at what they do!

When trying to get one in a trap or in a specific place just run up to it, I tried to tame a spino and was attempting to get it in a trap with tranqs and it got knocked out under water. Rip spino 2026-2026😔✌️

Bruh, people just making this thing hard. The tip to tame a spinosaurus is just going for him riding a carbonemys (it will need lots of health, I think 2000 is enough) while having a crossbow or bow with tranqs. Just shoot him repeatedly as he will hit your carbonemys instead of you, and when he starts to run away, get out of the carbonemys and keep shooting and chasing him until he gets knocked. Then feed him lots of meat and use lots of narcotics (biotoxins better). Thx for reading and hope it helps ^_^

If you wanna knock out a spin-off don’t use bolas. I found out the hard way.😂

stand on a high cliff and shoot it or keep shootong it and running away on a raptor until it's knocked out. it gets distracted very easly by fish, sharks and manta's (even while chasing you) so you may want to shoot it while it's distracted.

His name is Hemlock (after the water hemlock poison plant 🌿) as soon as I tamed him we had to head into dangerous territory to get back to my base. He protected me and my raptor Delta (who I tamed with him) from a therizosaur and a gang (like 7) of dilos! He was on low health too! I will protect him forever! sup I’m the guy who gave the name idea “Slappy xD” in name ideas. So ima tell u how to tame it. (Based on my own experience) so first method: tanking the hits. Bring a tanky mount like steg (I really recommend steg bc u can hold weapon and crazy tanking) bring yo steg to yo desired spino then let yo steg take the hits and shoot it when it runs chase it bc BELIEVE IN YO SELF. 2th method: Trap and bear trap spams. u see, bring a fast and good mount (Recommend a high lvl carno) build a trap u make for a gig but leave one side open.

u might want to make a trap like this. \_/. put as many as trap bears u can in the middle, Aggro yo desired spino, head to yo trap and let it get stuck get off yo mount and shoot it quick with yo ammo choice.

LEAST EFFECTIVE TO BEST EFFECTIVE FOOD: (bad to good from my opinion tho) raw fish meat, cooked fish meat, raw prime fish meat, raw meat, cooked lamb chop, cooked prime meat, prime meat, and kibble.

AMMO CHOICE: if it’s a high lvl: u can use crossbow but I’d recommend darts since it wouldnt last as much in the spammed trap. But if it’s low lvl, u prolly gtta use darts from my opinion bc it might die while crossbowing it.

For anyone trying to find spino they mostly spawn on south zone,rivers and swamps (I only know island spawns) if you can't find them kill some creatures so the spino have a higher chance to spawn I tamed of these beasts and they are so cool they wreck everything even with non imprinted ones they are still beasts

Letting you know on Ark ultimate edition I tamed a lvl 20 spino with two raw prime meat. It said it would need 13, there’s nothing effecting the tame speed. Good luck taming one.
