I love these guys! I have two at my base (a male and female) and can’t wait to breed them once I unlock ac engram ( I know I’m a noob). I tamed them on mobile using the soothing balm free gift, which is kind of cheating I guess. They still give me so much peace of mind knowing that whenever I run into some tickle chicken or something, I can just call in my big guns, Spadoodle and Spinerete.

They should make it where, when it rains, the spino should get a buff

but when its dry or oddly hot, should get a slight debuff

Spino taming is easy that you dont need any trap for it just lure him/her in a large wall not an wall a land with a large area or rock which she/he cant reach you and tranq it(you can use tranq, toxicant, and trangquillizer it would actually dumb to use slignshot to knock it out)if its running is just kind of the hard part cuz they are fast which is using it will just avoid tranq dart so just use an tranq arrows if you are lucky enough that the spino gets stuck in a big mountain just use tranq darts and knocking it out and taming it is very very easy just go to an swamp kill some paracer i recomemded to kill 2-3 paracers since paracers dops 7-13 prime meats and make sure you have an 10x soothing balm then here you go you now have an spino😊 hope thi helps to the one who is struggling to tame a spino thank you so much for reading this far:)

Taming one solo.

I had a level 15 hanging too close to my base for comfort. I have never tamed one before so I am happy with this.

I made 10 stone pillars and had ladders up to the top and I used tranq darts with a longneck rifle. It took 23 darts to knock out. If you use arrows I advise making 50 for a level 15 or lower. Be aware that it’s torpidity runs out very quickly. I had 100 narcotics with me and loads more at base if needed but 100 was plenty for this level. I am still learning about kibble and things so I fed it raw fish meat which did take a lot longer.

One thing about Spinos is that they really really REALLY love to make babies, I had two Spinos Finn and Spinnerella, TWO! And when I came back from a hunt to make a saddle I had 3. Let me tell you they almost always come out female I swear to god, so later I had 5, then 9 then 13 because some were boys and now I have 26 in 10 hours and a lot of fertilized eggs. (Also I play on a solo unmodified server on island with the smallest little hut with a moschops, a big eagle thing, a Rex, a turtle, 2 pteranodons, a Tapejara, 2 parasaurs, a trike, a monkey, a beaver, a small raptor, an anky, a small handful of lysta- things that you pet, 12 raptors, an otter, and exactly 48 dodos that are about 500 hp and damage for each one. And after Finn and Spinnerella getting in bed constantly and a lot of incest I have a growing army.) so with all that said get a male and a female Spino, and don’t be stupid like me and getting close to one with a sarco to see its gender. Just get a spyglass.

I have two ways you can use to tame tame this. One for lower levels and one for higher levels.

First what you need (based of my experience)

About 30 tranq darts (you might need more or lees depending on wich method you use (etc))

About 30 narotics

A lot of fish meat (or prime fish meat) (or kibble)

And some bio toxin

1st : the easy way. This way dosen’t require dying all the time but you can only do it if you have large bear traps. What you do is you put the bear traps a bit away for each other in a line and run up to it and then to the traps. Then shoot it with tranq darts. If you don’t knock it out let it chase you to the next bear trap and tranq it again. It took me about 30 tranq darts (I missed some). Then feed it prime fish meat (or normal but normal takes longer) or you can do it the 2nd way

2nd way; This is for lower levels who have a bow and tranq arrows but not a bear trap. What you do is :

.shoot from distance with tranq arrows and run and shoot. If you die go back and continue shooting and running. When you knock it out put fish meat in it’s inventory (might take a while) and don’t forget the narotics!.

Tip:

I recommend you use bio toxin.

This is a goated creature. Spinos are way better than t rexes, as they can go underwater too, and their patterns can look way cooler. They are easier to tame, I got a level 95 with 40-90 tranq arrows and with their upgrade stats they can murder any creature in the area as long as it’s on the ground super easy. 10/10 creature.

Honestly my favorite dino. As many people have already said, it's a great swimmer, higher dps than a rex when on 2 legs, supersonic on 4 legs especially with hydration buff. One thing I don't see mentioned is that they climb uphill very well on 4 legs. Overall way better than a rex yet still so overshadowed by it. Probably due to bias from JP... They easily get distracted I was trying to get one into a trap but it had to dispose of the wildlife first

If you’re low level and have a spoon near your base, try to hopefully find some trikes to deal with it. I’ve seen trikes go ham with spinos, and they come in groups, which gives them the better advantage. I watched a group of trikes deal with two spinos that were near my base and I was absolutely thrilled!

There's a really good spot to find spinos near the green obelisk on the island there's a shallow water area and there almost always been a spino there for me

run. just run. very far and very fast.

After taming one all I can say is that it's basically a rex but more agile.

I came across a lvl 100 spino what should I do

Lots of them in the canyon in Ragnarok.

I mean lots. You are never safe.

Probably one of the BEST mounts in the game. Can kill land animals and water animals with ease. Are fast as sonic. And is overpowered in the water. (Great for harvesting beaver dams).

These thing are stronger then a red and a Lot of the time more common than a Rex. It also gets a water buff. 1 👆 = one prayer to my passive spino’s death to a megalodon.
