They always spawn near my base. But my army of dilophosaureses always take them down. I’d say about 10 dilos will be enough. They reward nicely.

How I tamed spino

Get metal armour and bird (argentavis) and crossbowed it with tranq arrows and my bird distracts it then it get KO then I put argentavis kibble and one fish meat and I got it

A tip is that if you live on the cliff on the south next to the metal spawns and on the other side of the river, there could be a lot of spinos so maybe you can take one by shooting down at it. There is a small little area on the the cliff where you can jump down and you can be on the perfect area where you can shoot at its head without getting bit. You are right above it. Just don’t fall, can work with Rexes too. I did it on mobile idk if it works on pc.

Tip/Hint: Spinos typically spawn in shallow bodies of water. When encountering, never run. Creep to the end of their tails. If you can, find a ledge, rock, or tree of some sort to hide behind. If you have a bola, use it to stun the Spino. Never go out hunting unless you have a Level 10 Dilo at least. It'll make your life so much easier. This tip is for experienced players. Incase you are wondering where the tips are for 2019, here it is!

If you want to kill it,or knock it out low levels make a bow get 40-50 arrows if you want to kill it or 50-60 tranq arrows if you want to tame it then find a tall cliff then shoot like crazy and if it tries to runaway then lay a large bear trap or stone walls, if you are trying to kill put wooden or metal spike walls.Then boom look at you, you get bragging rights good luck!

Tapejara on a cliff face is better than a pteranodon; there’s much less of a risk of falling off the top of the cliff, and once the spino starts running you can chase it easily. Take a tribe mate in the passenger seat to shoot in the air

To tame I took my fastest Sarco and while swimming where I can along with the Spinos aggro I just hip fired with my crossbow. To prevent the Spino from drowning it will always begin to run away before being knocked so while it is booken it time your last few shots for when the Spino is on the land when it is time to be tamed.

I have 5 spinos and they are amazing at lower levels to destroy any competition and if you level a few up they can kill a rex easily. -Kt

If you only have tranq arrows and taming over le 60 give up it will be to fast

When taming make sure to have a buddy or two with you one to get meat. The second one watches the torpor and taming bar. The third one protects the spino.

Can’t break stone but one did attack me inside a stone tower watch out!

Don't assume just because they are big, they will be slow. They are insanely fast on land and in sea. Their top speed, reactions, attack speed and turning radius are sharper than their teeth and claws. Just because you are on your prized Raptor, sniping from a distance, does not mean it won't reach you faster than you can turn and start to run away.

Alright I was in front of one with no stuff at the time I was a noob I thought it was a stegosaurus but no it was a big crocodile so I started to punch it but it did not die my point is it is possible but go ham on him at a higher place then he can climb or Rech and go ham on it with all you long range weapons with trank darts or arrows to ok him sorry about typos

As others have already pointed out, the values for raw mutton are off. You need more mutton & narcotics!

I now tamed a 112 Spino on Aberration with 2x taming multiplier. I used mutton only and it ate 30-40 raw mutton (opposed to the 27 calculated). Each piece gave ~3% taming progress, so it finished with ~92% Taming effectiveness. I got 51 bonus levels (calculator said 53).

What you should take away from this: raw prime fish is faster than mutton and as it seems (needs confirmation) produces atleast as many bonus levels as mutton.

Make a 2x2 pen with dino gates but leave one of the sides open, shoot the spino and wait for It to get in the pen. Close the open side with one dino gate and you have a knocked out spinosaurus

I'm taking a lvl 17 spino rn I used a argy to get on a high rocks with tranq arrows to knock it out and bio toxins to keep it asleep so I don't have to farm for narcotics

I believe Spinos May be bugged right now. Tried to tame two today, both level 280. First one, drew it on to land, knocked it out and put Argie kibble on it and it sank through the ground and out of my reach. I stuck around to see if it might tame anyway and I might be able to recover it. It died due to “drowning” under ground. :(. It took one bite before drowning and got to 1% tame. Second one, pulled it up a hill, knocked it out and put kibble on it as well. Supposedly takes 4 bites of Argie kibble on our sever (15x taming). Each bite gave 1% taming. Fed it a few drugs to keep it asleep and after 4 bites, I stopped drugging it and it woke up. :/

The mutton taming is wrong tried it twice now and got only to 80%
