Basically low level ones (30-) bola it and hit as many times as you can then repeat .

The best way I have found to tame a saber is to throw a bola at it and tame it there, they typically spawn by creatures like carnos and Argens which provide you prime meat. You can't tame it where you want with this method and you have to protect it and for higher levels it may take more than one bola but it works for me

Pick Saber up by its back with Argent. Keep your nose pointed down and it won't bite/claw you to death. Drop in a stone pin. Have ladders going up the side to a ceiling looking over pin. Proceed to traq it out and boom! You have an easy tame (currently taming a 150)

Tranq arrows with a crossbow have a big chance of killing them. I would recommended using tranq darts instead. They also take so long to tame with regular meat. Use bronto kibble on mobile. I have a low level saber named fur ball.

You can bola them and knock them out with narc arrows with a bow or a crossbow. They like eating meat types food.

When tamed up and saddled. Have the health 1750 to 2000 and jack the melee up. It is a beast kills rex's and alpha raptors w/o even touching the health barely

does not give 2 poops about bolas anymore. i just use high ground when available.

Grab it with a agry and drop it in a trap I needed 52 tranq arrows it was level 232

I would recommend not taming a sabertooth. They aren't very strong and they attack very slowly. I tamed a level 11 one and then it died 2 seconds after I tamed it. The piranha fish things killed it in like 3 hits. 2 fish killed a sabertooth tiger, WOW!

On the island, there’s a cliff right next to the tundra area, nothing can walk up it except you and your tames. With taming sabers in particular, build a wooden trap as they can’t break wood. One fence foundation at the point where they get stuck facing the top of the cliff, two going down on either side, then one at the end. Place one wooden doorframe on the end facing the top of the cliff and two high down the sides, lure one or two sabers into the trap, wait till they’re attacking the walls then quickly block the open end with a two high wooden wall. Go off and level them for a while and they’ll starve themselves trying to break the walls, then tranq them out. Break the end and lead or ride out your new saber. This strategy got me a level 104 female saber in 30 minutes (trap building time included, I kept misestimating the amount of wood I needed)
