Just downed a lvl 180 tek rex on official 97 darts to the head and down.

X-Rex are extremely squishy when compared to the Tek Rex. Best to go for Tek Rex if you want to do hunting missions.

Wild X-Dino’s receive a 60% damage reduction. To calculate what is required to take down an X-Variant, take your current weapons attack and multiple by .4, then add that value as a custom weapon into Dododex.

Build 3 walls high 3x3 raft taming pen, go to carnivore island, kill nearby argies and scorpions (easy) lure one rex into the pen, tranq it down, go back to herbivore island, done.

Im so mad whenever i want to tame one these guys just run into a bunch of brontos/terror birds and get emselves killed wtf

How to tame a Rex:

The rex is a large predator, it is moderately fast but is tanky and does some real damage. It is mostly found on non-snow mountains, excluding white sky peak and frozen fang. It spawns after you clear its kins, so you can go around killing low level Rexes and wait for high levels.

How to tame:

200 tranq arrows will be enough, but I bring 300 just in case I find something else(u never find what you’re looking for in ark).

No narcotics bc Rexes tames are pure wait but bring it loads of prime. Have cooked prime just in case but have narcs if you tame on cooked prime or worse.

Method 1 safari tame

A 130% speed and around 300 health some levels in stam as well.

U just run, and turn and shoot. When it is catching up, circle it as they have abysmal turn radius. Just don’t get hit and repeat the procedure. A pt is good as you fly away when the Rex is close and land and shoot when it is farther.

Method 2 trap

Bring 4 stone dino gateframes and 2 LARGE bear traps.

Make a I_| shape with the gateframes and place the traps in the middle.

Use a flyer to lure the Rex in and quickly place another gateframe in the opening so that is is a cube O shape. The Rex is trapped.

After you knock it out, place a simple bed and sleep. Starve your tame!!!!!! Get prime in the process and when the timer ends shove about 50 prime meat down its throat(less if its low level use Dododex)

Uses: Tank

Harvest: gets tons of meat hide and prime

Boss Dino

Army: very tanky and does great dmg.

Have creative ways to use your Rex such as taming tanks.

This is basically the go to choice for almost all the bosses.why? because its the one of the best for fighting bosses especially forest,ice and megapithecus, because point you probably don't have a giga at that point,it has high HP and high damage and if you breed it up..it's gonna crush the weaker bosses.if you want to add up the damage output of the Rex with the yuty then sure you can do it if you're willing to go into the snow and possibly get ambushed by purlovias.

Well I don't know if it happen in pc because I am good with mobile control and play ark mobile but for me rex is soo much easier then taming spino you just need a high place where rex can't reach you and hit him with treanq arrow or tranquilizer dert until it got unconscious then just feed prime meat it won't take lot narcotic 10 is enough for me I didn't even needed narcotic I tamed a mex level rex without narcotic

You can find these bad boys in the mountains, snowy parts, and in the red woods. Use around 30 tranq arrows/darts to knock them out. Feed them raw prime meat or raw meat if you have the courage to wait and boom got the king of the dinosaurs.

Low levels are easy, get on a high rock and have a bow with tranqs and a spyglass (to watch its torpor) and when it runs away it will be knocked out. (I did this on carnivore island)

when i was looking for allosaurus on the western coast but i cant find any allos but a 280 rex! so i build my stone dino gateway its like this I_I with a large bear trap on the middle bait the rex if the rex get into the trap close the the trap by placing gateway , make sure you do it before the rex get free from the bear trap, tranq it i recomend use an ascendan rifle

Built a trap

3x3 foundations, walls on 3 sides 2 high.

On the 4th wall put in a single doorway.

Opposite this wall put wood ramps on the outside of the trap, so anything from the outside can run in and fall in. Put a behemoth gate (yes takes investment, so place the trap in an open area with a ton of dinos so you can keep reusing it) on the base of the ramp so you can block it off AFTER you have something trapped.

To be completely safe,

Place a foundation outside the trap behind the doorway, box it in with walls and doorways,so you can be safe from other dinos trying to attack you while you tranq dinos.

Just set this up and went overboard by setting up 6 Dino gates on the outside around the main trap.

145 Rex is in and taming.

Nothing really bothers you when you get one of these guys so great for exploring and already has good health and damage when tamed

Use small gates to easy trap and knock the rex

Step one get long neck rifle get at least 70 darts get more if your aim is bad

Step two find rex there not that hard to find just go to creater maps on dododex and look for tyranasousas rex and

Step three find a cliff it can't climb start shooting it and it will leave and come back a few times but u should be able to tell if it's coming back for u or not u may have to chase it don't start tranqing if if got low ho or attacking a brouto

So my experience with this beast was horrifying but I knocked it out it took so much tranq arrows it took 30 tranq arrows and I ran fast with the Brontos because there were lots of dinos with the brontosaurus then it was attacking the other dinos then I shot it a lot then it fell asleep because the thing it was attacking a a tank it was an ankylo so that’s my experience with a rex.

Lead it a cliff and make the cliff colapse then run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Four huge metal signs put them into a square and put the fourth one in after the rex is in, it works.
