Tips & Strategies

What are tips for rex? Tips and strategies for rex in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
If you want to tame one of these pretty early, its actually quite easy that you can even do it on foot. Just a crossbow and atleast a stack of tranq arrows is enough (I recommend 2 stacks just in case). Just make sure to lure it into a nearby herbivore and it'll attack it instead. During that time just shoot it until it pass out and there you go, all you have to do is to feed it and wait.
BOSS REX’s
For gamma bosses I recommend:
Hp 10K
Md 600
With 50 armor saddles.
For beta bosses I recommend:
Hp 15K
Md 1.2K
With 80 armor saddles.
For alpha bosses I recommend:
Hp 35K
Md 2K
With 120 armor saddles.
Buff your rexes with a yuty and optionally heal them with a pig. 100% imprint provides 30% more damage given and damage negation when the imprinted rider is riding.
I don’t recommend rexes for bosses that deal fire damage as carnivores take increased damage from it.
All of these estimations are assuming you are solo on official rates, the more people in the fight the lower the rex stats are required to be.
So I have a Rex and a spino, however when u target something, the Rex doesn’t attack immediately but the spino does. I’ll try get the saddle anyways
To the person that said real men tame these with tranq arrow and a cliff… REAL MEN TAME THESE CRITTERS WITH A BOOMERANG ON FOOT (thank lord I didn’t accidentally kill Fox Trot my rex lol)
This guide is only for low level rexes
Step 1: get a crossbow with about 15 tranq arrows
Step 2: find a Rex
Step 3: run away from the Rex and shoot with crossbow
Step 4: repeat until unconscious
Step 5: insert raw meat into inventory and wait doesn’t need narcotics if low level
Step 6: enjoy your new Rex
I tried to tame one *100* and I did not succeed because my kibble rand out and it’s torpor was low and when it woke I ran for my life. DO NOT RUN OUT OF KIBBLE
When you come across a Rex and it is trying to kill you. Try to find a near dino with a high level or any level really. To make it distracted,so you have a chance to get away from it.
Why are they everywhere on the CENTER MAP! Seriously they’re everywhere!
The best way to kill a Rex is if you have a bow and arrow and enough arrows house and you get up on a high rock you can kill one of these things with ease trust me I’ve done it
I recently tamed a Rex and it was not that hard at all. So if the Rex u are looking for is level 1-15, Then you only need like 30 tranquil arrows. Just find a hill bigger than the Rex and can’t be climed by one, Then get its attention and start shooting. Just don’t let anything eat it when it gets knocked.
This is for new players:apparently base player speed is enough to outrun a wild one,but as a general tip, make sure to level mobement speed and stamina, will always come in handy!
go to carnivore island there are some of them
it took very long to tame it but it was worth it:
u need:
1-3 beartraps (it's possible he doesn't get in one)
much tranq arrows(i didn't count them but it took long)
some meat (i always carry 30 with me to tame a carnivore just to be prepared)
i found two in the southeast on the coast near herbivore island. i placed the beartrap and shot him with tranq arrows then i ran to the beartrap and he got caught i kept shooting him and when he was sleeping i tamed him with the meat
i did this again with the other one
up for prince and princess
The Rex are very slow . Put a stone gates around him while he is stuck and use a bear trap then put the x3-x4 stone gates then tranq him out . Make sure you clear the area before setting the bear traps others creature can spring it and u would be left with using your self or a tanky dino for a distraction
One of the best Dinos for base defense, meat runs and guarding your team in general. We have two in our tribe, within the first few hours our female laid 5 eggs. One is level 86 and the other 161, never have had to worry about them in battle, they've held their own against alphas, packs of the overrated Allos and many other Dinos that some may consider troublesome.
Best tame, once you get the ability to make a saddle, go an tame one be be prepared to be on the move constantly cause they cover a lot of ground.
Also avoid water combat unless you're in shallow water. I plan on taming a 3rd, They're the best in my opinion. If you can't tame a giga, the next best land carnivore is the Rex, hands down.
If you sink a ton of tranqs into it and it runs away and suddenly turns on you, its not trying to eat you. Their AI isnt the best and they get stuck on everything. They are just struggling on a nonexistant wall and are taking the long way around. Continue tranqing.
It can be found in the winter biome and the redwood and the scorched earth ark kind I’m not sure if it’s in the scorched earth biome because I don’t have the rare ark kind I’m only on a tablet
Honestly, these are really easy to tame.
Get 100 tranqs, 60-80 narcs, (i reccomend 80 just to be safe) And 100+ fish meat.
Get 1 stone base, 2 tall stone walls (or metal), and 6 stone ceilings (To have space to land a flyer).
Make sure the walls are on only 1 side, so it should be 8 single walls tall. Or you can use a Tapejara.
Pick a flyer with a decent amount of health, just incase something goes wrong. I recommend a high-level Argie.
Build it by a Rex, Land and shoot. Chase it when it starts running away.
After its knocked out, you can put you flyer on Neutral, so it can distract anything.
Rexes eat fish meat quicker, so use that. Monitor the Rex's Torpor levels, and feed it narcs.
Now you have a Rex! Now you can get another one so they can breed, and now you have a Rex army.
U can knock it out with a primitive crossbow u just need a high ground or a dino with a lot of healt atleast 1 and half k and u shall be good
