So no ones gonna mention that you can use a fishing rod on its back (apparently).

To the people who are annoyed about the fish diet, Pelagornis can float on the water and swim with you on it instead of getting dismounted forcefully like any other flier. They can murder fish that way if you have a few minutes of your time and a good, lively pond or river.

Mine was killed by a Xiph (Ark Additions creature, mod) and she was the best otherwise.. thank you for reading and Midnight also thanks you for taking another one like her! 🪶

Having trained and flown many Ptera and Pelagornis atp, I can now say I truly prefer Pelagornis as an early flyer tame. If you run out of stamina over water, just land in water, chill for a few seconds, and you’re ready to fly again. You’re gonna run out of stamina while flying at some point, so might as well pick a flyer that can quickly recover this way! They can also glide on top of the water to move around. The instant fish kill attack easily puts them over the line for utility preference in early game. You will never have to worry about Piranha again, and now you’re stocked with fish meat for taming. They may not fly super fast, but you can always upgrade their speed. Plus their burbling sounds are adorable. I freaking love Pelagornis!!!

Since patch 2.25 released April 8th they now reduce the weight of polymer by 80% when in the Pelagornis and they harvest it 30% more now

Hate that you fall off of your pteranodon if you hit water? Not only do you stay on your pelagornis, but it lands on top of the water! Better yet it will swim!

Pelagornis' can land on both land and water, so they are very ideal for scouting as they can go anywhere, but they have a low movement speed and weight so not an all around good flier

These guys get so much hate for no reason and I love this guy he is amazing on the island because of all the rivers and with his good flight speed and decent whaght makes him perfect for exploring or deap sea fishing

Can easily over encumber itself gathering organic polymer. However, using a quetzal as a carrier of both the animal and the polymer can allow for very successful polymer runs. Sometimes bringing in excess of 1000 in a hour run on an island server.

These guys are really S tier flyers, especially for early game. Although theyre not as fast as the Pteranodon, they can recover stamina and float on water. They are masters at gathering organic polymer. Theyre also decently speedy and a good enough travel mount. My pela named Big Bird has recently been carrying me in my new The Island playthrough and because of him ive been able to get full ghillie extremely early on. Definetely reccommend taming.

Good pet, because it is very flexible when it comes to traveling, as it can travel on land, water, and fly. It has pretty good stamina while doing multiplied damage to fish. The saddle take 75 chitin or keratin, but if phiranas are a problem, this is a solution.

i LOVE seeing all this pela appreciation!! they're slower than the pt but far more versatile and reliable!! the fact they can swim means you can land anywhere and escape predators in a pinch, they instakill fish, and harvest TONS of organic polymer!! i love you pelagornis you are so adorable to me

Single player uses:

1. Early game travel mount: Pelagornis is slightly slower than pteranodon and has equally bad weight and stamina, but since it can swim you won't immediately get dismounted if it force lands you into the water.

2. Free organic polymer: Pelagornis has the best gathering rate for organic polymer of any dino, set one to aggressive in a cage with mating penguins and air conditioners.

These guys are literally the only flier mount that doesn't force you to dismount and fly away like a coward while piranhas and crocodiles eat you alive

THEY DISMOUNT YOU FORCEFULLY WHEN FLYING CLOSE OVER LAVA!

If your're riding it in water, you can look down and spam the "take off" button to make it semi-submersible. If you dismaout underwater, though, the bird will float back up to the surface of the water

All around best bird, except when battling, it is kind of weak but are amazing for traveling, since you can land on water then swim while you get stamina

Throw your chair out the window, grab a fishing pole, kill leeches, and hop onto your pelagornis. Mobile fishing!
