They do only way fish meat, but they seem to be fine on normal meat if it's in a trough? I was going mad trying to keep them topped up with fish till I noticed their health/hunger wasn't going down when it ran out of fish but still had raw meat in it.

If you play on Official Easy, breed these birds as mass poly farming machines!

Use a bola when they land then knock them out with a club or your fists no point in wasting tranq arrows

Don't get to close or they will fly away so keep your distance before taming or killing

The pelagornis is a great bird for collecting organic polymer off baby penguins primarily, They are all around a fantastic bird as they can land on water while low on stamina. While on the ground the pelagornis is rather slow but in the water it is very quick especially while utilising it's spring ability in water and it's ability to strafe from side to side as well. While landed their stamina drops rather slow while attacking making it easier to defend them on the ground or water if something is attacking you.

Best way I have found to tame these is to build a small quetz like trap on a quest. Make all the walls out of window frames and surround it with ceiling tiles as a walkway. Can use rare flowers to bait them in if needed. Little more advanced but this is how I tame them during events.

You need 2 bolas if its a high level may need 12 tranq arrow

Really good if you start near Herbivore Island, as their ability to land, float and swim over water meabs you can tame a herd of the more common pteranadon as pack animals to transport metal gathered at that Island, though I would suggest taming if your at the beach but your base is inland

Don’t Bola & Knock these guys out over water, Even tho they float when tamed. Knocking these guys out on water, they would rather drown then be tamed by me... Meh

A living water plane and organic polymer harvester

One of the most effective creatures to use to harvest organic polymer and very easy to tame!

slightly slower than pteranodon but has slightly more stamina. Can swim and lure fish instead of grab and barrel roll

They don’t need prime fish meat they also take raw fish meat of that helps the grind

I knock one out, lands in the river, put fish in inventory, then I turn back, and a second later, it drowned. Has an oxygen baseline, so be careful!

I found it easy to scare the Pelagornis to the shore wait for it to land then bola and tranq it. Sometimes a megalodon can scare them for you to.

You can find these little guys in basically any beach. Tamed one and saddled it and it is quite useful! You can also fish while on it in the water which is really useful if you dont have a raft. However the speed is quite low and you cannot hold creatures with it.

Don’t jump on its wings when it’s knocked out it glitches you and you take fall damage it killed me... still got the bird though

I once won an air battle with this against someone with a ptera, don’t underestimate their bite.

Easy way to get XP kite a rex into water swim in circles hitting it until it dies.

I suggest not getting more than 2 for a while because they eat so much damn fish - and only fish.
