Here is a surprise, if u can transfer one to scorched earth, fill its inventory with food, and wear it, it will keep you cool from the hot desert and control your dehydration a very good bit, along with the desert suit and a morellatops, you are almost immune to any dehydration on scorched earth, just don’t die 😅

They insulate your temperature, making temperate areas seem tropical.

These make great housepets, adorable and easy to tame, i have one and its cute when they sit on your shoulders someone also said they lost their otter well you can request it it will keep its hat

Do you people know that you can request your animals by looking through your tames list and selecting request. They go to the nearest bed when you do that. I play on mobile so I don’t know about PC or console.

Don’t drop in lava as it will die

They are really good early game black pearl gatherer just throw them in a body of water get them to kill a fish and they will probably get a black pearl

If you want to tame otters while having an otter on your shoulder to insulate you, make sure you set their status to passive, or they will harvest the fish you’re trying to drag to the new prospects.

Planning on breeding dinos? Otters insulate the eggs... very important tame for breeders!

To anyone on ark mobile gaming them to farm artefacts, they actually can’t hold artefacts in ark mobile but they’re still cute! 😭

Ark Mobile: If you're able to I highly recommend a mining cap for the otter. Makes it easier to find and an amazing night light. If he's on your shoulders the light works best in third person. That way you can still wear a good helmet, still see at night, and still have your weapon out.

Make an army of these little guys and name them all “Otterman Empire”

Put it around your shoulders. Keeps you hot when you're cold and cold when you're hot. He'll even fetch pearls for you and look adorable doing it.

Guys!!!! Otters DO keep u cool in heat waves and other places. Tested it by going into the volcano w my otter. Not sure if it works in scorched earth, (haven't left the island yet...) Up so peeps can see!

One thing I see people haven't been talking about regarding these cute little guys is that their insulation also makes for good egg hatching. Of course, for max efficiency for this you need a group but they do help!

Once tamed, keep on hunting even at least coelacanths at first. I had one which for some reason despawned. When he slaughters a fish (any fish) he takes at least 4 silica pearls and for every 3-6 fishes he kills he gathers at least 1 or at best, 3 black pearls. Very useful at all times, especially at the tundra.

Good enough fish hunter, though not as effective as Ichthyornis since it can’t one-shot fish & doesn’t give them a prime boost. However, it can get silica & black pearls when killing fish. If it has pearls, you’ll be notified by an animation.
