Otters get silica pearls and black silica pearls from dead fish’s inventory. They eat the fish, and then the pearls get transferred over to the otter’s inventory.

Pls don’t kill otters… they give plack pearls after killing fish or I think harvesting clams(silica pearls). This is super useful during late game!

For gathering with the otter you don’t always have to pick him up and double tap F for him to gather and attack targets you can use the whistle command “attack this target” and it does the same thing but without having to pick him up and double tap F and he doesn’t have to be on your shoulders.

What I do is I throw him off my shoulders I go and kill the fish myself and once I got a good group of dead fish I just use whistle “attack this target” and he gathers the meat and pearls from the dead body. Hope this helps for anyone that was constantly picking the otter up and double tapping F to gather.

Do you say they’re just cute tames? No real use? WRONG! I took my level three otter out and got it to kill a fish. When I went into my house to get the fish meat out of it’s inventory, there was twelve fish meat AND 1 silica pearl. And you might say, oh, silica pearls are easy to get. Oh? Well then how easy is it to get a BLACK PEARL? Oh, pretty easy, cause yeah, my otter had that too! They can just kill fish and get pearls! Up if you find true and helpful!

While it is probably the cutest creature in ark, let’s not forget that it has a use. It is the best gatherer of black pearls, one of the most valuable resources in the game.

They are a rare shoulder pet, you find them in rivers, they are very useful though, they can warm you in cold climates, they are the only tame (that I know of) that can hold multiple of each artifacts, and they can be set on wander to collect black pearls and silica pearls over time. 🦦

For mobile users, these cute little ones are the best way for getting black pearls

1 get your self to the hidden lake with your otter

2 carry the otter on your shoulder

3 get in the pond and whistle attack on the fish

4 swim close to the targeted fish and let the otter do its job

This method have a high rate almost one of 2 or three fishes will give you a black pearp

Somehow my lvl23 gives me about 425 hypothermic insulation. The hell game... I’m not against my cute little scarf bro being useful as heck though. I love these guys

I can still forgive bullying

BUT I WILL NEVER FORGIVE KILLING A OTTER

Besides being able to carry multiples of the same artifact. Every point put into stamina on the otter increases the hypothermal insulation your character receives while holding it.

Otters will also farm not only silica pearls but black pearls. It is a great substitute for killing those weird underwater scorpion things.

To tame these lil cuties use raw fish meat or raw prime fish meat I mostly find them in or near the footpaw regions region if you see one tame it fast or it could e killed or you could just lose track of it because of its small size once you tame them they provide the following utilities 1:they are frikin adorable 2:if they ride on your shoulder they keep you warm in the cold and cool in heat 3:they are frikin adorable 4: they are great at harvesting silica pearls and black pearls(punch a coleocanth and let the otter kill it and then if it's in water it will lay on its back and appear to hold a calm shell or black clay shell the otter has to kill the fish to harvest the pearls) 5:they are frikin adorable: these cuties are the best early game tames in my opinion I hope this helps you and let me know if I should post more tips thanks guys 👍-DARKSTAR

On mobile they don t have the ability of carrying 5 artyfacts.

If you put it next to a wyvern egg it will keep it warm but easier with two other

They are the only creatures that can hold more then one artifact

Umm is it normal that my otter got a black pearl on her first fish kill,,, im on mobile

Be careful while sending it to attack fish. I sent it to attack a salmon and ten other salmon came out of nowhere and obliterated it.

You can insulate eggs with Otters. Throw the egg(s) next to the otter, and it will start warming, or cooling the egg. I’ve tried it with Yuty, Bronto, and lystro eggs. This also woks with Dimetrodons.
