Otters are incredibly hard to find and will occasionally wander off while you look for another fish.

A great way to solve this problem is by using an Argentavis and picking up the Otter you wish to tame in its beak (C on PC, R3 on PS).

Once you land, the Argentavis doesn’t drop the Otter but rather keeps it in its beak.

Now you can freely go find some fish without worrying about your Otter escaping.

If the Otter is in water, you can either use an Equus with a Lasso, Wild Flowers, or Honey to bait it out of the water.

It's a handfeed tame give it fish meat and your fine the can be great when you are cold just pick them up

This is the way I like to do it it’s probably one of the best way to tame a otter:

1: locate otter. One of the best places to find them on the island is the river around the redwoods this is where I find my otters

2: use argy to pick up the otter in its beak (not talons) and then land on the shore

3: go in the water and kill a fish and bring them up to the otter, (you might have to jump) do this until the otter is tamed

You can put hats on their heads.

They will attack back.

They will warm your shoulders.

They are passive tame. Drag a dead fish over to them and feed it to them to tame them.

Just found 2 of them at South 1 at the bay ahead the Swamps.

Don’t have a gun pulled or anything while taming the otter:)

2 tames make these super easy, a Parasaur and ichthyornis Strap a Parasaur to a raft in an otter spawn location and set it to "alert to creature" grab your friendly ichthyornis and have it carry back all the fish your new otter friend will ever need.

(On mobile)Otters can be feed while from the back of an Arg.

1. Find it 2.grab it with a left thumb "up swipe" 3. Feed when hungry 4. Name your new otter friend. On console, grab otter in Arg. Follow steps.

Feed them fish and they will love you

Grab it in an argys mouth and land it on the beach and it can't run away then just feed it fish

Using a sabertooth salmon or coelocanth is a lot better than using a pirannha.

***FOR MOBILE***

Passive tame, taming balm 10x and 5 cooked prime fish meat is enough for a lvl 280.

Bring him to an enclosed space on base for easy taming. After feeding for the first time, it will take a couple minutes for him to get hungry again. After second feeding he will want to eat every 10 seconds or so.

Since there's no info on taming here, thats my experience. Do the math for your own level, not hard to tame. Best of luck!

To tame one easy just grab it with argent’s beak and land next to a location full of saber tooth salmon. This trick allows you to feed it fish without the fish getting in the way of the tame. If your playing on Aberration or Genesis1 sorry about your luck lol.

All you need to do if your on consol and have an argie press right joystick and pick it with your birds mouth and you can feed it just like that

I found these guys almost impossible to tame on land since you automatically hold the fish in front of you, and it gets between you and the otter. However if you can swim with the otter it's a million times easier to feed it since you drag the fish behind you.

BEST WAY TO TAME! Pick one up with your Argie and tame it in the air! Very easy and away from predators!😸

Bring an ichthyornis and some grapping hooks with you, find your otter then find a concentration of salmon nearby. Go grapple the otter and bring it to the salmon then tell your ichy to bring you bodies and force feed your leashed otter ;) also you can put the ichy back on your shoulder and bring your otter still leashed back to base on your flyer

There isn’t a thing for mobile otters :( (you feed mobile otters raw fish meat instead)

For mobile users, give it fish. They don’t wander far so just stay close by and feed it PASSIVELY. I put a lil mining hat on my otter
