I found these guys almost impossible to tame on land since you automatically hold the fish in front of you, and it gets between you and the otter. However if you can swim with the otter it's a million times easier to feed it since you drag the fish behind you.

When leveling up or mutating your otter put it’s levels at a 2-1 ratio into melee damage and health. Melee damage allows your Otto to keep you warm while on your shoulders better and health allows your pet to survive longer. Don’t level weight because if it is encumbered it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t move

Bring an ichthyornis and some grapping hooks with you, find your otter then find a concentration of salmon nearby. Go grapple the otter and bring it to the salmon then tell your ichy to bring you bodies and force feed your leashed otter ;) also you can put the ichy back on your shoulder and bring your otter still leashed back to base on your flyer

Cute little fact about ark otters. You can put little hats on them(can be any hat, skinned or armor). They also help to keep you warm when you carry them

There isn’t a thing for mobile otters :( (you feed mobile otters raw fish meat instead)

For mobile users, give it fish. They don’t wander far so just stay close by and feed it PASSIVELY. I put a lil mining hat on my otter

If you’d like one I highly suggest scanning beaches with small land masses in the middle! Breaks them up into two and I’ve had so many spawn it’s insane!

If you're looking for them on Aberration, bring a Parasaur with Turret Mode to a river in the Fertile Zone. For whatever reason, Otters are classified as enemies, so the Parasaur can find them easily! Got like 12 of them thanks to this.

for mobile on single player, don’t know if the mechanics are the same on PC or multi, but otters set to aggressive will NOT HARVEST PEARLS! if you wanna farm pearls, you have to have one low atk aggressive otter (so its less likely to get the killing blow and harvest meat) and one or more attack target otters, when the aggressive one attacks a fish the others will follow suit and they can harvest pearls safely

Pro-tip from someone that plays solo and with no electricity: THESE are the best incubators, period. Get a couple of high-level ones and level their melee damage (this increases their insulation percentage). They act as perfect little den mothers and hatch your eggs.
