Helpful Tip: Did you know you can hatch eggs using these mfs? First, tame 3 otters, place them in a triangular shape with the egg in the center, then BOOM!! u got yourself a baby dino. Nature's incubator.

The otter can be very useful for gathering fish meat — it will harvest fish on demand. You can also use it to forage for Silica Pearls, and it will occasionally find Black Pearls.

I’ve read many of the comments and I just want to clarify that the otter insulates you. Meaning yes it will protect you from the cold, however it also helps keep you cool from heat.

Increasing melee damage increases the hypothermic and hyperthermic insulations on the carrier.

Fun fact: If your on mobile, you can just tap on tames and you’ll be able to summon your lost companions.

To the person that lost Otty, I’m not sure if you knew this but if he’s alive, you’ll be able to get him back, he won’t have his inventory items though

Dear owner of Henry otter, he is fine you dont need to worry abput him. He was simply accepted into Woghorts and the disappering you saw was simply him entering fish #13 3/4.

This creature has the more utilities than any other shoulder pet:

5.It has reduced weight meaning you can carry it and carry less weight on your shoulders.

4.It can carry multiple of each artifact unlike you or any other creature.

3.It can be used to find prime fish meat and pearls, allowing you to get food while on expeditions.

2.It keeps your body temperature stable, allowing longer expeditions into hot or cold areas.

I know a lot of this info has already been said, but this is a full recap of it’s features:

Insulation - Yep, having it on your shoulder protects you from temperature, but mostly cold. Both of these scale with the otter’s attack, but their percentages are different. Cold gets roughy 70%-75% of the otter’s attack, while heat only benefits from around 25%. This is still useful for hot environments, but don’t count on the otter to guarantee remove all the heat from you, it’s more suited for the cold environments.

Egg Hatching - Their insulation also counts towards eggs, giving the same benefits if you have them next to the eggs. No need for an air conditioner, just get 2-4 of the otters, level their attack, and sit them next to your eggs.

Fishing/Pearl Farming - This was probably my biggest issue with the otters. They farm fish for black and silica pearls, but the AI of the otter is weird. There’s a few ways to get the otter to dive down for the fish, though it can still be pretty inconsistent. The solution I’ve found that work best for me is to have the otter on your shoulder, and swim to the fish. Have the otter set to attack your target, and just punch the fish once.

Note: DO NOT KILL THE FISH, the otter must do the finishing blow to get you pearls, punching the fish just lets you target it with your shoulder buddy
