Who like to tame just pick it from petra and just feed it it's the best way to tame it don't waste more time on following tha otter

This is the way I like to do it it’s probably one of the best way to tame a otter:

1: locate otter. One of the best places to find them on the island is the river around the redwoods this is where I find my otters

2: use argy to pick up the otter in its beak (not talons) and then land on the shore

3: go in the water and kill a fish and bring them up to the otter, (you might have to jump) do this until the otter is tamed

Otters give you both hyperthermic AND hypothermic insulation-not everyone knows this. Also if you know where they spawn on lost island that would be great cuz I can't find them anywhere. You otter tame these dudes-best shoulder pet on the island by far.

Don’t have a gun pulled or anything while taming the otter:)

You can insulate eggs with Otters. Throw the egg(s) next to the otter, and it will start warming, or cooling the egg. I’ve tried it with Yuty, Bronto, and lystro eggs. This also woks with Dimetrodons.

2 tames make these super easy, a Parasaur and ichthyornis Strap a Parasaur to a raft in an otter spawn location and set it to "alert to creature" grab your friendly ichthyornis and have it carry back all the fish your new otter friend will ever need.

They can carry artefacts for you so you can grab 2

People that kill this extremely cute creature have been known to get death sentences.

Otters are incredibly hard to find and will occasionally wander off while you look for another fish.

A great way to solve this problem is by using an Argentavis and picking up the Otter you wish to tame in its beak (C on PC, R3 on PS).

Once you land, the Argentavis doesn’t drop the Otter but rather keeps it in its beak.

Now you can freely go find some fish without worrying about your Otter escaping.

If the Otter is in water, you can either use an Equus with a Lasso, Wild Flowers, or Honey to bait it out of the water.

Found One!!! In the River Near Lower South Cave that leads to the Swamp, usually has a spino. Didn’t know they spawned there!! My Base is at lower south cave >:) I’ll be watching closely with my petra, abductees for my zoo !! xD

Feed them fish and they will love you

if you need to hold an artifact put it inside of the otter inventory

1. Find it 2.grab it with a left thumb "up swipe" 3. Feed when hungry 4. Name your new otter friend. On console, grab otter in Arg. Follow steps.

Aside from being able to wear helmets and being cute, these guys are useful. You can set one or all on aggressive and or have other otters on attacking/attack your target and they will hunt fish. On aggressive they solely go after fish and nothing else unless accidentally hit, often they don't seem to leave bodies of water on aggressive. Otters have chance to gather a pearl when killing and gathering fish. When perched on your shoulder they act as a person's AC unit which is great for maps like Aberration and Fjordur.

Grab it in an argys mouth and land it on the beach and it can't run away then just feed it fish

Generally a cute shoulder mount because of its looks and they're extremely useful because of their insulation ability and their fish harvesting ability another thing that makes them so useful is that they can hold artifacts

Using a sabertooth salmon or coelocanth is a lot better than using a pirannha.

To tame one easy just grab it with argent’s beak and land next to a location full of saber tooth salmon. This trick allows you to feed it fish without the fish getting in the way of the tame. If your playing on Aberration or Genesis1 sorry about your luck lol.
