Took a run though the swamp. I got bitten by a titanaboa. I died, respawned and saw, you otter (lvl 3) killed a titanaboa (lvl 30). Do not underestimate. Unfortunately, 2 seconds later I see, your otter (lvl 3) was killed by a titanaboa (lvl 10) one up for my harry otter?

Otters are cute. Baby otters... show them to the ARK haters. They will instantly be cured.

They can carry multiple artifacts, even on official, and provide hypothermic insulation against the cold. Literally a must have for running artifacts if you plan to spam run boss fights for element. 10/10 would smash again.

These things can incubate a wyvern egg if you boost their melee damage. Also they keep you warm so you could go into the snow biome with no armor but with an otter on your shoulder and still survive

Fun fact: If your on mobile, you can just tap on tames and you’ll be able to summon your lost companions.

To the person that lost Otty, I’m not sure if you knew this but if he’s alive, you’ll be able to get him back, he won’t have his inventory items though

Dear owner of Henry otter, he is fine you dont need to worry abput him. He was simply accepted into Woghorts and the disappering you saw was simply him entering fish #13 3/4.

The otter can be very useful for gathering fish meat — it will harvest fish on demand. You can also use it to forage for Silica Pearls, and it will occasionally find Black Pearls.

Mobile player, I was doing dodo hunt (kill 250 dodos. Not as easy as it sounds) with my Griffin and my otter, and my otter FELL OFF MY SHOULDER and landed in water full of mega. Then I start getting messages, "your Harry otter (otter lvl 57) killed a megalodon (lvl 30)" I got at least 5 of these. Go OTTERS!

They can also keep you warm from the cold

Otters are one of the most useful creatures in the game. I’m actually not exaggerating. Either it’s intentional or a bug, but the otter can carry MULTIPLE artifacts. This means, if you are careful enough, you can bring an otter, filled to the brim with artifacts, to an obelisk, allowing you to get a lot of blueprints, but best of all, tons of soothing balm. This means you can make SOOTHING BALM literally EXPENDABLE. Now you won’t ever have to worry about taming creatures!

P.S: They also keep you really warm. With hide armor you can enter the frozen plains.
