Just caught two of these beastly animals today with my son. The best way to capture one is three metal signs in the form of a triangle with a bear trap in the middle of it. Lay the first two metal sign down in a 90 degree angle and put the bear (large one) trap in the middle. Get the megatherium to follow you into the bear trap, and put the third sign on the outside of the animal. Tranq it up and vola you have a Megatherium.

Torpor acts normally during knock out if they are in their 'normal state' allowing for an easier knock out.

When they're in their 'Bug Rage' state, torpor drops insanely fast during attempts to knock them out. Resulting in darts being less effective, and the need for Tranquilizer Arrows Torpor over Time to help counter.

The reason for this, is due to the Bug Rage being a natural counter to the poisons of the various torpor inducing attacks of the Arks "Australian sized" insects.

Giant bee honey seems to work well for taming. They can be picked up by wyverns.

To make honey last practically forever, make a fishing rod and equip honey, that is about to spoil, to the fishing rod, then un-equip it. It should refresh the spoil timer. Does not work with leech blood. Tested on PS4.

Can be picked up with quetz. Found them very quickly in the snow area. Also seems like it can gather just about anything. The buff they get for killing insects also seems to increase the damage it does on other creatures

I adopted it using bait. My best dinosaur was a Triceratops. I managed to adopt it, but if you don't have the budget to build stone walls and floors, bring a bait with a full life, tell it not to be aggressive, and attack the megatherium with the dinosaur. Stop with the dinosaur in place and let the megatherium attack your dinosaur while you shoot it with semi-anesthetizer. Use honey to tame. Its easy to get, And its a alternative kibble. Highly recommend using honey

don’t shoot it when its glowing red, the tranq wont be affective. its best to tame it when its trapped and make sure there are no bugs nearby; bugs give the megatherium a buff (the red glow) which makes the megatherium resistant increases and get lower torpor and damage. hope this helps, goodluck with your tame!

make a sheep farm and cyo it and kill it when you knock it out makes tameing so easy in my case eanyways

How to tame megathirum pocket guide

1:you can find em in the redwoods or the tundra I think, so look around there and you can find em easy

2: Build a trap with gates kinda like a Giga trap to keep it in there, and then hit it with tranq darts/arrows and feed it it’s favorite kibble

3:then, simply proctect the murder sloth from things like terror birds and allos or something

4: you got a megathirum!
