If they are in half sleep dept they may knock out but once you get close to it it wakes up trust me I almost had a high level one on extinction the woke up and killed me I was low on health

Be careful on aberration or in the caves rips u off and picks up your mount

Becareful a megalosaur can awake anytime and kill you that could happen.It happend to me and killed my dinosaurs(not all dead)and when is awake he could take you in mouth and kill you easy

these are the best things to tame nothing attacks u when u ride can pick up medium sized dinos

If you knock it out just before it turns to morning then it will stay asleep for the entire day don’t wait until the afternoon or later because it will wake up. Also bring prime meat it will tame loads quicker. DO NOT knock out on the same level as it make sure you are higher than it as it will pick you up in its mouth and the only way to get out is to either kill or tranq out. I now have a lvl 50 megalosaurus from this

In the center map they spawn around the pond that's on the floating island. Pick up with a quetz and bring them to a taming pen. I'd only use oviraptor kibble and starve tame it a couple times. Knock it out during the day..let it wake up at night and knock it out again then feed it

They are, in fact, a rather easy early game tame for ragorok map. In the Viking bay, there is a chance for one to spawn under a large skeleton, so you can get it out rather then a cave. Just watch out for rexes.....

Catch it in the day use net projectiles and tranqs bring superior kibble then BOOM… Lion lizard 🦁

If using a journeyman longneck rifle, it'll only take two regular tranq darts....for a level 4, anyways. My point: use something better than primitive and you'll need less ammo. Hope this helps!

I would totally recommend one of these guys, even on maps like the island. Pump some health, melee, and even a little weight and speed and you got yourself free hide in one night. Also microraptors are almost no problem with a megalosaurus, just dismount (you'll still be in the megalos back) and let the megalo grab the microraptor and chomp him up for you. Besides sleeping and being crap during the day, these guys are mini rexes on steroids.

This guy is only usful at night if he wakes up on day time he gets a stat affect groggy it makes his stats down by some notches I learnt that the hard way only use at night they fall back to sleep after a while

good for hunting at night probbably never used like the tip if it is good for night hunting

If you wake it up to many times it passes out and you can tame it

Use the L2 to pick up small dinos in its mouth, then bring them to the destination of your choice, and have a friend tranq the small dino while in its mouth to knock it out. I use for taming ravagers, kill low levels then pick up alpha and bring to your base to knock out and tame. Works wonderfully!

On the island map, check the cave on carno island and the one near the volcano. I have seen Megalosaurus' in both. Be sure to enter during the day while they are sleeping, it makes for an easier tame. Also, aim for the head!

Got one in baby stage now on 338 official, keep it unconscious during the day (make it stay awake) it goes through food liek it does at night. This one while sleeping in the day eats 1 meat a second, its insane

These guys should get more respect. They can carry you in any map especially Abberation and they are basically as strong as a rex.

Fun fact: they were one of the first dinosaurs to be discovered.

I just got 2 slaps in the face by ark, I was going to the middle chamber for the artifact but I found a high level and max level megalosaurus (I had no taming gear) then I came back later with taming gear and I tried to find a good level one but found only low levels :(
