Two things: there's a waterfall valley full of these guys in the city on extinction. Also, make sure you bring some spare narcotics with you when taming as their torpor drains fairly quickly.

These guys can be found in caves. Make sure you have Bolas and Bio Toxins on hand, and a small weapons compatible mount. You'll waste Narcotics if you use those instead of Bio Toxin.

I personally find them in the Carnivore Island cave on sparse occasion, and it's nice to find them there as you'll likely have Prime Meat. They cling to the walls and ceiling, and are so quiet you can't often rely on an audio cue. I often eliminate them by accident fighting off Onycs and bugs.

Good luck taming one, hunter. Once you do, you've got an amazing stealth unit and cave explorer.

Just stay away or get mega rabies

While not completely amphibious it is still pretty fast underwater

Bring rare flower if you hope to run into them. They've never infected me mounted on direbear, which makes for an easy way to tank hits while tranqing.

If you wish to encounter them, best bring a fast mount and rare flowers. Eat the flowers while running near the walls, then lose aggro debuff and turn around to pick them off. They have low base dmg and don't seem to infect you while mounted like bats can.

Decently experienced ark player here. When they say the torpor drop for this thing is high it is very high as when I knocked this thing out it woke up in a second. To put simply carry some bio toxin with you.

Easy tame if you bola them and then tranq. Watch their torpor though, it drops fast.

They can't give rabies to wild creatures so don't try to kill a rex with it the rabies only seems to effect people.

If you're playing on Switch version (which plays a lot better on OLED version btw) you will want Baryonyx Kibble and Bio Toxin
