Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a megachelon? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a megachelon.
You can breed them in the squid trench on rag and incubate the eggs there also 👍 so ppl see this. No information about this on here.
Passive Tame: You kite a parrot fish swarm to the turtle then guard the turtle from sharks and things.
While the turtle "feeds" on the swarm! Any damage resets timer to 0!
Getting inside it with Honey is BS and will NOT work.
If breeding on Lost Isles head to 42.5 lat 17.8 lon. you can breed in the bottom of that mini trench thing. Area is too hot to hatch in but you can just build a mini hut with an incubator and gen at the bottom. Set incubator to -5 that's my sweet spot.afterwards cryo it up ride to surface and imprint.
Lead it into a line of stone behemoth gates and close a gate behind it and it will be trapped or you make a square box of Dino gates and nothing can mess its taming up while it’s being tamed so up this!!!!!!!
They have patched the render range range so ignore any tips that say to leave render as it will no longer. Guess I’m stuck with the turtles I have, I’ve spent three hours trying to take one of these things and had it walk out of the water which reset it taming! It was at 80% that time. Never got it above 20 after that. What he for the saber tooth salmon that spawn to kill the swarm if they bite the turtle it resets to zero and you start over. Extremely frustrating way to tame a creature. I would like to beat whoever came up with this idea.
Make sure to stick close while it's taming. They patched it so you can no longer tame it out of render distance
Alright to actually tame this giant turtle you need to lead a microbe swarm to the turtle, then protect it from sharks and eels while it passively swims around and eats the swarm
Preparation is key to not spending 10+ plus hours like I did the first time trying to tame. First setup behemoth gates each with doors in the shallow water as a trap. I'd say 5 to be safe but can be done with just 2. Allow space between behemoth gates big enough for a mosa to fit tightly between. Make sure you have a speargun or crossbow to kill coels and sabersalmon since they spawn and eat the fish swarm. Go ahead and trap your megachalon. You dont need a roof on your trap since the creature gets stuck in the doors. Here's where things change depending on solo tame or duo taming. You must be within a few blocks for it to maintain in taming. So if you have a partner, choose who will stay with the megachalon and who will be pulling swarms to the tame. Put poop in your last slot to maintain aggro of swarm. You most likely will need multiple swarms. If doing solo, get at least 4 swarms just out of agro of megachalon before starting and then kite each as needed to the tame.
30 min tame no matter what level
Haven’t seen this tip yet
The sabertooth salmon or the cole fish around the school of fish will eat the microswarm if you kill them first using a angler fish or a basi preferably because fast and small bite box it’ll kill it without hitting turtle. If you or anything else damages turtle it’ll reset zero. Keep turtle poop in your last hot bar slot and swarm will stayed aggro to you until you reach turtle. By killing cole or salmon you can use one swarm to tame turtle on 1x in about 45 mins for a 145. If you leave render zone swarm dies and taming will drop. 🐢
To tame you need to lure a parakeet swarm to the turtle. You only need ONE swarm to tame these dudes… here’s what I gathered from experience:
1. If they get hit during taming progress resets to zero
2. The higher the level parakeet swarm (and the higher it’s health) the quicker it tames
3. While taming the swarm will have coles and salmon spawn behind it and attempt to eat the swarm, the more this happens the slower the tame will be (if eaten enough parakeet swarm disappears)
Their taming is like an annoying mini game, would recommend a baryonyx for fish that spawn and also to kill sharks that try to attack the turtle.
Tip: coles can’t catch up to the swarm, so if one spawns would suggest leaving it be as it seems only one fish will pursuit a swarm at a time
Another Tip: gen is the easiest map to tame, I did it naked. Most annoying part of this tame is luring the swarm to the turtle to start feeding, I found this buggy on a mount and oxygen, stam use and sped are all buffed underwater while swimming on this map.
You have to bring a microbe swarm to it. The swarm will swim beside it and it will tame. Everything else is wrong. This is the intended way to do it
Just confirmed you can not tame while knocked out.
A Megachelon's taming food, the fish school, are EXTREMELY easy to spot at night with night vision goggles. They glow.
Bring the schools of fish to them by grabbing the fist with a tuso wait a few seconds and then lead the rest of the way just swimming with flippers
When feeding the fish, make sure to not lead two parakeet fish at the same time, it will kill the turtle
Megachelons and the swarms do not combat with eachother and just don’t work. The turtle is so much faster then the swarm and the swarms just deaggro on you every 3 seconds . I had a 150 turtle and once I got the swarm to the surface they just stopped aggroing and they wouldn’t attach to the turtle. I tried this with 3 different swarms and they all did the same thing
I don't know if it will help but I lured a swarm near a 130 turtle and got killed by an eel. When I got back it was tamed and came out 195 so... Either I got lucky or it's a mechanic that could be used? 👀
When taming, make sure not to trap it. When it comes in contact with a barrier of any kind, sabertooth salmon are spawned in behind it. The salmon will bite it an reset its taming. If you tame it in the open water with no barriers it will tame pretty easy. You can not put berries into your hot bar and passive it or honey. You can not knock it out to tame either.
Use dropings from the shell to craft the saddle. To tame lure up a school of fish and they will chase the turtle in circles until it is fully tamed
