Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a megachelon? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a megachelon.
On ark ascended gen one the water boome changed a bit and so did the method to tame these. The sabertooth salmon and coels that spawn will no longer hit the megachelon resetting the tame making it a bit easier as you only have to make sure other wild sea creatures don't attack it. The downside of the new changes are the new water physics. The surface of gen one has a new mechanic that pulls you up, the turtle likes to get stuck on the surface of the water and will cause the parakeet fish school to explode upon coming in contact with the surface. The best way to tame these is to lure the megachelon to deep water instead of luring the fish to the turtle which usually resides in shallow waters. They like to swim up so starting the process in deeper water ensures it goes much more smoothly but can be a pain to lure the turtle as they're slow. Other than that just find a parakeet school and let it clean the turtle while defending the school of fish from the other fish that spawn in. It's a long process, I've heard on 1x it's 30 minutes regardless of level. Just be sure not to accidently hit the turtle while taming and it goes a lot faster than you'd imagine.
You can breed them in the squid trench on rag and incubate the eggs there also
Passive Tame: You kite a parrot fish swarm to the turtle then guard the turtle from sharks and things.
While the turtle "feeds" on the swarm! Any damage resets timer to 0!
Getting inside it with Honey is BS and will NOT work.
Lead it into a line of stone behemoth gates and close a gate behind it and it will be trapped or you make a square box of Dino gates and nothing can mess its taming up while it’s being tamed so up this!!!!!!!
A passively tamed creature that requires you to,”Feed” it a school of parakeet fish. (Tiny glowing schools of blue fish that look like drones, usually around the turtles themselves.)
You need to aggro the school of fish by walking into them which gives you a,”You are being targeted by a Microbe Swarm” pop up, then slowly lead the school to the turtle and swim alongside it which automatically starts the taming progress at 0% which then slowly climbs to 100%. During the taming process Sabertooth salmons and coelacanth will randomly spawn around the turtle and try to kill the school of fish to stop the tame.
However this can be easily cheesed by killing all the salmons and bigger coelacanths until a small coelacanth spawns which cannot keep up with the turtle and the school of fish, so let him try to catch up while the taming bar fills up.
Scuba gear is also not necessary, as the turtle constantly produces oxygen around it which refills your oxygen meter.
They have patched the render range range so ignore any tips that say to leave render as it will no longer. Guess I’m stuck with the turtles I have, I’ve spent three hours trying to take one of these things and had it walk out of the water which reset it taming! It was at 80% that time. Never got it above 20 after that. What he for the saber tooth salmon that spawn to kill the swarm if they bite the turtle it resets to zero and you start over. Extremely frustrating way to tame a creature. I would like to beat whoever came up with this idea.
Go into the ocean in fjordor around the swamp island In the west of the map. You should see some turtles so to tame them find a school of fish and let them follow you to the large turtle. Swim beside it and try and get the fish to target the turtle. This will start the taming process keep doing this till tamed. For the saddle kill the turtles to get shell fragments and combine 22 of them with standard materials in a smithy. You can build on their saddle but don't cryopod if you have built. Make sure others see this
Ps: they are originally from genesis 1 in the ocean biome.
Make sure to stick close while it's taming. They patched it so you can no longer tame it out of render distance
If breeding on Lost Isles head to 42.5 lat 17.8 lon. you can breed in the bottom of that mini trench thing. Area is too hot to hatch in but you can just build a mini hut with an incubator and gen at the bottom. Set incubator to -5 that's my sweet spot.afterwards cryo it up ride to surface and imprint.
Alright to actually tame this giant turtle you need to lead a microbe swarm to the turtle, then protect it from sharks and eels while it passively swims around and eats the swarm
Preparation is key to not spending 10+ plus hours like I did the first time trying to tame. First setup behemoth gates each with doors in the shallow water as a trap. I'd say 5 to be safe but can be done with just 2. Allow space between behemoth gates big enough for a mosa to fit tightly between. Make sure you have a speargun or crossbow to kill coels and sabersalmon since they spawn and eat the fish swarm. Go ahead and trap your megachalon. You dont need a roof on your trap since the creature gets stuck in the doors. Here's where things change depending on solo tame or duo taming. You must be within a few blocks for it to maintain in taming. So if you have a partner, choose who will stay with the megachalon and who will be pulling swarms to the tame. Put poop in your last slot to maintain aggro of swarm. You most likely will need multiple swarms. If doing solo, get at least 4 swarms just out of agro of megachalon before starting and then kite each as needed to the tame.
30 min tame no matter what level
Yuh good tame kite fish big turtle eat fish if turtle take damage turtle sad😭😭😭😭
You have to bring a microbe swarm to it. The swarm will swim beside it and it will tame. Everything else is wrong. This is the intended way to do it
Just confirmed you can not tame while knocked out.
A Megachelon's taming food, the fish school, are EXTREMELY easy to spot at night with night vision goggles. They glow.
I love u need to kill another one for making its saddle.
Thanks...
(Me realizing after Timing one)
My idea tame two make Baby and kill it for ravange >:{
When feeding the fish, make sure to not lead two parakeet fish at the same time, it will kill the turtle
Haven’t seen this tip yet
The sabertooth salmon or the cole fish around the school of fish will eat the microswarm if you kill them first using a angler fish or a basi preferably because fast and small bite box it’ll kill it without hitting turtle. If you or anything else damages turtle it’ll reset zero. Keep turtle poop in your last hot bar slot and swarm will stayed aggro to you until you reach turtle. By killing cole or salmon you can use one swarm to tame turtle on 1x in about 45 mins for a 145. If you leave render zone swarm dies and taming will drop. 🐢
The swarm is a pain to get them to it but besides that it's easy. Swim around find a swarm, swim backward so.they can keep up with u. Get them near and boom. U have to kill sabers and those passive fish every 3 seconds or so so be ready with a sarco or something. Get 2 scuba tank and a otter an u'll be fine. Be careful not to attack the swarm or turtle when fighting off sabers. The turtles give oxygen and stamina off so that's in case of emergency. Make sure they aren't stuck on something because that stopped me from taking them twice. Don't know why but it did. Now u got a big a turtle for ur turtle needs
